The AC Milan players not representing their country returned to Milanello today, but there is unfortunately some unlucky news on their first day back.

This morning, the team returned to training at Milanello to get ready for Friday’s game against Padova and 12 players reported, as MilanPress reported: Pietro and Filippo Terracciano, Lorenzo Torriani, Sankhoun Diawara, Matteo Gabbia, Mario Gila, Fikayo Tomori, Christian Comotto, Alexis Saelemaekers, Omari Hutchinson, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic.

Unfortunately, though, there is already bad news from inside the camp…

Saelemaekers suffers injury

According to Sky, via MilanNews, Saelemaekers has suffered an injury to his ankle and will now head for tests to determine the extent of the injury. If they return with positive news, he should be back for the Sassuolo game.

However, it is currently unknown, especially since the cause of the injury has not been suggested.

Gazzetta dello Sport have also provided some information, stating that he will ‘certainly’ be sidelined until next week and is likely to miss the game against Sassuolo on October 11. It appears that he has suffered a sprain in the worst possible moment, given he had the chance to make himself a starter over the break.

Hopefully the tests return with positive news soon…

  1. Isn’t that just great? I mean, FML, you don’t even need to be called for your NT, there is always that possibility that you’ll get an injury.

Torriani (Pietro)- Gila, Gabbia, Tomori (Diawara)- Saelemaekers, *Bondo, Comotto, Filippo- Hutchinson, Loftus-Cheek- Pulisic as
a false 9. This also clearly shows that we lack both a rotation(al) DMC and one more SC.

    1. Pulisic has never worked out as a false 9. Cisse would be a better choice. While I appreciate Cisse’s goals, I don’t believe he has the skill set yet to be a winger/10. With his strength on the ball and strong shot I think he would be a better choice as a 9.

      1. I agree with you, that’s why I have stated that we need a backup striker for the umpteenth time LOL This would be a lineup from the remaining players that haven’t been called up for their national teams and stayed at Milan/Milanello. God forbid we use Pulisic as a 9 but it’s not like they (Amorim and co.) haven’t mentioned him in that context a few times so that (kind of a setup and lineup) is not completely out of the question, I’m afraid…
