Alexis Saelemaekers completed his loan move to AC Milan from Anderlecht yesterday and was the Rossoneri’s last transfer of the winter session. The 20-year-old Belgian spoke to Milan TV (via milannews.it) and gave his first interview as a Milan player to the official TV channel of the club
“I think Milan is a great club, all the players dream of playing in such a club and today I’m very happy to be a part of this project,” he said.
He then went on to speak about how the interest of the Rossoneri made him feel in his last days as an Anderlecht player and spoke of his inspiration and football idol.
“I felt great pride because I have always considered Milan a mythical club and a team in which I would have dreamed of playing. My inspiration? Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I think he is a footballer and a person who is an inspiration in terms of mentality and his desire to win, so I am inspired by him.”
Finally, the young Belgian starlet elaborated on his objectives with the Milan shirt and described what he thinks he will feel when he enters on the San Siro pitch for the first time.
“My objectives are clear: to try to do my best every week for this club, in training and in matches, to demonstrate to the fans my desire to help this team.”
“I think it will be a beautiful moment for me [playing at the San Siro]: being able to enter this stadium and trample the grass in front of all the fans will make me shiver,” Saelemaekers concluded.
It remains to be seen whether the 20-year-old will already get his chance to show off tomorrow against Hellas Verona at the San Siro. Today the player took part in his first training session and it will be up to Stefano Pioli to choose whether he is already ready to be included in the squad list.
