Tuttosport: Saelemaekers ‘will return’ in summer – Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Italian options

Alexis Saelemaekers has made himself an essential cog in Roma’s system recently, but it seems the Roman club will not be able to make a move for the AC Milan man before the summer.

Assessing the Saelemaekers situation is certainly not easy to do. After a lengthy injury, the Belgian has been fantastic for Claudio Ranieri’s Roma side – playing a huge role in their dramatic upsurge in form. However, his future is clouded.

On loan from Milan, the winger has several options open to him, but there is no knowledge about the outcome just yet. However, the Rossoneri extended his contract before his departure, which plays into their hand.

This afternoon, Tuttosport (via Milan Press) report that the Belgian ‘will return’ to Milanello in the summer, but that does not mean the situation is done. In fact, it is probably far from that.

The Diavolo are currently making considerations about his future, but the decision will be entirely dependent on the head coach’s stand, whoever that may be. After all, a player like Saelemaekers will ‘always come in handy’.

Then, there is the case of Roma, who have already expressed their interest. However, Milan are standing firm on their €20 million evaluation of the winger.

Furthermore, another issue has arrived for Ranieri’s team – interest from the Premier League. As stated in the report, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are both interested in the winger and will have ‘much less trouble’ matching the asking price.

Ultimately, though, the decision is to be made by Saelemaekers.

      1. It won’t.

They removed Pobega, Sale, and Adli in terms of bringing stronger names in Ruben Loftus, Chukwueze and Fofana.
Fofana is now very important but Chukwueze any game that have opportunity – flops. Ruben Loftus is always injured.

In next season is better to remove deadwood Ruben Loftus and Chukwueze. Keep cheaper back up Adli Pobega Saelemaekers and come back in Europe with some other investment.

  1. Before we get over excited here… saelamaekers is perfect for a team that plays wing backs. Unless we actually get a Conte who prefers 352, realistically Alexis won’t be as good if we bring him back.

It’s better for all we sell him, and wish him well elsewhere. €20mn is a nice profit. Hopefully we reinvest sensibly into a backup, assuming we keep Leao+ Pulisic as starting wingers.
