Saelemaekers says ‘strong’ Milan are ‘going to war’ against Spezia

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the game between AC Milan and Spezia, which will kick off in 30 minutes, Alexis Saelemaekers spoke to the media about the Rossoneri’s situation. It’s a game they need to win in the top-four race.

Saelemaekers played from start against Inter as he replaced Rafael Leao on the left flank. The Belgian did quite well but ultimately failed to have an impact, especially since he was subbed off early in the second half. Today, however, he starts on the right

Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Saelemaekers spoke about the disappointing result against Inter and how Milan can use it today. As we have heard so many times before, he said the key for Milan will be to play like Milan.

How is disappointment transformed into energy?

“We have to forget the Champions League match and remember that against Lazio, we did very well. We have to try to play a good game and come back with the three points.”

How did you prepare for it?

“We didn’t have much time, we have to start with a lot of determination and confidence. We had a so-so match in the Champions League but we know we are a strong group and we have to show it on the pitch. We’re going to war today.”

What game do you expect?

“We know that Spezia are playing for salvation. If we play as Milan, we have the possibility of taking the three points”.

Today’s game is indeed a must-win for the Rossoneri ahead of the second leg against Inter in the Champions League. They have a mountain to climb as the city rivals currently lead 2-0 on aggregate, making it a very tough mission.
