Salzburg director gives Milan and Liverpool hope in pursuit of forward: “I am not ruling it out”

Red Bull Salzburg’s sporting director Christoph Freund has not excluded the possibility of selling reported AC Milan target Noah Okafor.

It was reported by Florian Plattenberg of Sky Germany last night that Okafor is attracting interest from a number of clubs but three clubs in particular stand out above all: Manchester City, Liverpool and Milan.

The journalist added that Okafor’s current asking price is between €35m and €40m, but there is a World Cup to come where the 22-year-old hopes to be a star with Switzerland and therefore his price could skyrocket yet.

Okafor rose to prominence last season when he amassed 25 goal contributions across 34 appearances for Salzburg and he has continued his good form into the new campaign with 10 goals and two assists in 22 matches this term, including one against Milan in Salzburg’s opening Champions League match.

Salzburg’s director Christoph Freund has admitted a winter move could be possible for Okafor if the conditions are right.

“I think a bit more will happen in the transfer market than in recent years,” Freund told Sky Austria (via F365).

“I hope that he plays a good World Cup, then the Noah Okafor stock can become very interesting. I am not ruling it out.”
