Sampdoria 2-0 Milan Primavera: Alesi comes back to bite wasteful Rossoneri

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan Primavera fell to a surprising 2-0 defeat away at Sampdoria on Monday evening with Gabriele Alesi netting against his parent club.

Milan started the game positively with Kevin Zeroli having a good header narrowly saved by the Sampdoria goalkeeper, but that would prove to be the high point.

The home side took the lead after 25 minutes when Gabriele Alesi found the back of the net. The irony is that Alesi is actually on loan at Sampdoria from Milan this season. That goal was soon followed by a yellow card for Francesco Camarda.

The first half ended with Milan having a double chance to get an equaliser but they could not force a way past Nicholas Scardigno.

It only took six minutes of the second half for Sampdoria to double their lead and it came through Simone Leonardi. Milan almost hit back through Filippo Scotti on the hour mark but his shot was blocked, and then Mattia Liberali also had a good chance that went begging.

Jan-Carlo Simic, who is being linked with a move to the Premier League, failed to score with a good headed chance and it turned into a deeply frustrating day for Ignazio Abate’s side who could not find the back of the net.

The victory leaves Milan in seventh, whilst Sampdoria climb above Monza and into 15th with this surprising win.
