The councillor for mobility in San Donato, Massimiliano Mistretta, has explained that they are expecting a defined project from AC Milan on a new stadium in September.
As has been reported by La Repubblica (via Milan News), Mistretta is waiting for more information from Milan before speaking too strongly about the prospect of Milan building a stadium in San Donato.
It is the area that is most likely to be Milan’s new home away from San Siro as things stand, so many members of the local government are being asked questions.
He is expecting there to be a better project outlined by the club in September and then talks can get to a new level about implementing the plans.
“In September we expect the project to be more defined. If we like Milan’s plan and we consider it to be better for the city, we will work to move forward. We will do all the checks on pollution and impact,” he says.
There have already been reports explaining how San Donato would create a shuttle train that runs every 15 minutes between the centre of Milan and the stadium, whilst more exits/entries could be placed on the motorway at the south of the city.
I would have thought it’d make more sense to put the stadium in a northern area of Milan to be closer to Milanello, but at this point wherever they can find a spot I guess is worth it.
It’s going to be a sad day, when we move from ‘Scala del Calcio’ to ‘AC Milan Supermall and Entertainment Center’.
Hopefully they’ll present a new design for the stadium.
