San Donato councillor believes Milan can celebrate 130th anniversary in new stadium

AC Milan are working on the new stadium in San Donato and with the Program Agreement now more or less initiated, the Rossoneri are confident. The councillor Massimiliano Mistretta has added to this, stating that it can be ready by 2029.

The Lombardy Region accepted the invitation to join the Program Agreement recently and the only authority missing is now the Metropolitan City of Milan. In short, Milan have made great strides with the project and remain optimistic that all permits can be obtained within one and a half years.

Speaking to MilanNews recently, the San Donato councillor Massimiliano Mistretta shared his thoughts on the project as a whole. While he didn’t add a ton of new information in that sense, he stated that the stadium could indeed be ready for 2029.

“The technical times, as things stand today, allow us to reach the goal of inaugurating the new stadium in 2029,” he stated.

In 2029, Milan will celebrate 130 years of existence and it would certainly be special to have the new stadium ready for then. Previous reports have even stated that it could be ready for the 2028-29 season, perhaps mid-way through, but first the permits need to be obtained.
