The Program Agreement process in San Donato for AC Milan’s potential new stadium has been frozen, but an alternative use for the site is being considered.
Milan and Inter recently submitted a proposal to the City Council, with which they hope to buy the existing stadium and adjacent land. The idea is to build a new 71,500 stadium on the parking lot, and partially demolish the San Siro.

One question naturally arises: what will happen to the San Donato site, a location Milan invested €55m into with the aim of constructing a new home there? As MilanNews report, the Mayor for the region – Francesco Squeri – commented on the issue.
“For us it remains fundamental to keep the ongoing planning for the San Donato train station active and to plan for the San Francesco area a quality development with a strong sporting connotation,” he said.
“In this sense we have had confirmation from Milan that, should the hypothesis of the stadium in Milan go ahead, their interest in San Donato would still be alive. In particular, they would be interested in building a training centre for the youth and women’s sectors.
“A possible development of this type would see us in favour as it would enhance an area that is currently a source of critical issues from the point of view of safety. We have been pleased to note from RFI, FS Sistemi Urbani the interest in participating in the Program Agreement even in the event of a remodeling of the project.”
Squeri and Councillor Massimiliano Mistretta met this afternoon with representatives of the Lombardy Region, the Metropolitan City of Milan, FS Sistemi Urbani, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana spa and Sport Life City as part of the Program Agreement.
The Committee meeting was called by the Mayor of San Donato to decide how to proceed in light of the expression of interest presented in recent days by Milan and Inter regarding the current stadium.
Redbird is absolutely useless.
They came. Dismantled the entire scudetto winning team. Sacked the coach. Sacked the sporting director and still can’t even get us our own stadium.

While I dont like what redbird does on the club, this is one of the few things they have done right. The problem is not with redbird but with Italian bureaucrats who is intentionally dragging their feet. Plus if you dont like Milan then what are you doing here?
What’s right about this? After all this tlak about being independent, spending previous money and time trying to build our own stadium, we end up RIGHT back at San Siro, sharing a stadium with Inter like a true 70s amateur football club…
Unless they want to actually build Milan its own stadium, just don’t build anything and instead wait until you can sell club. Use the stadium money for something more useful…
