San Siro named as 2027 Champions League final venue but guarantees are needed

By Euan Burns -

San Siro has been named as the venue for the 2027 Champions League final but there are certain guarantees that need to be made before preparation can really begin.

As has been reported by the press agency ANSA (via Milan News), the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Dublin resulted in San Siro being granted the 2027 Champions League final.

The decision has actually been suspended until September, though, because it is “subject to communication from the FIGC on the renovation project” of the facility.

There is a lack of clarity as to what physical state the San Siro will be in by 2027 and that is why UEFA cannot press ahead with the plans just yet.

Various other UEFA hosting duties were also decided at the meeting, such as the 2026 Champions League final being in Budapest.

The 2026 Europa League final will be at Besiktas Park in Istanbul, whilst the 2027 final will be in Frankfurt at the Stadion Frankfurt.

As for the Europa Conference League, the 2026 final is going to be in Leipzig, with the 2027 one in Istanbul.

For the women’s Champions League, the 2026 final has been assigned to Oslo while for 2027, a new application procedure will have to be started “since Germany has already been designated for the 2026 and 2027 finals and therefore the Stuttgart’s offer cannot be taken into consideration.”

  1. Oh no attendees won’t be able to order 15€ coffees in a Starbucks inside the stadium and they will have to watch a football game without wifi, horror show

  2. I don’t like this if san siro still gets top European games it will keep the authorities from actually deciding to allow for a new stadium
