Pianeta Milan: New San Siro capacity will not surpass 70,000

By Euan Burns -

The capacity of the new San Siro stadium that Inter and AC Milan want to build will not surpass 70,000 seats, a report claims.

As has been reported by Pianeta Milan, the public debate on the new stadium finished recently and therefore some details have started to emerge on what decisions were made.

Both clubs are totally committed now to building a new stadium from scratch rather than renovating the current stadium and that is why the topic of capacity has been a major one during the various meetings that preceded the public debate.

The intention seems to be to build a stadium with a capacity of 65-70,000, which is the amount that was requested by the fans in the public debate.

This figure is related to the costs involved with building any more seats than that. It is also seen as better to have a full stadium almost the whole time rather than a bigger one that is only filled for big games.
