Yunus Musah left the field to jeers during AC Milan’s win over Como as he was replaced in the second half, ending his March in a negative way.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport write, Musah will no longer have to play at San Siro in March and it might be for the best, in order to forget and start again after what has been a very difficult recent period for him.
Against Lazio, at the beginning of the month, he was substituted in the 37th minute. Not in the second half, in the first. Against Como, he missed an empty net early on and – when he was withdrawn in the second half – was booed by the entire stadium.
Musah has been criticised a lot in recent days but those boos are not in line with the ethical code of San Siro in recent weeks. He played a bad game against Como but once again he showed intensity, fight and the desire to make things happen, all qualities the supporters have actually been asking for.
The USA international doesn’t have the technique of a top Serie A player, but the fact he has only scored twice in his senior professional career says a lot. With Milan he has 54 games and no goals, while this season is the Serie A player with the most expected goals among those yet to score.
Against Napoli he came very close, then he hit the post against Girona, he wasted a big chance against Verona and against Bologna he did everything but score after a chance he created from a dribble, drawing a save from Skorupski.
The numbers are clear but the eye test is equality important. Versatility is his biggest strength: Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceiçao used him in five positions including two midfield positions, as a right-back, a right-winger and even behind the striker.
Musah will do the classic double flight over the ocean during this break. USA boss Mauricio Pochettino called him up for the Final Four of the CONCACAF Nations League games against Panama in the semi-finals and – if they get through – either Mexico or Canada.
Yunus will get rest after that because he was booked against Como, reaching the threshold and thus having to serve a one-game suspension versus Napoli. Conceiçao will have to find another solution and he is not used to it: the last time he didn’t start when availabke was against Como in January.
You’re joking right? Musah is lucky to employed as a professional footballer. He should never have been signed and deserves every boo. If hes worth this alleged 30m then sell him. Every single club in Europe has a better midfielder. Every. Single. Club.
This is a trash thing to say.
The guy works hard and is just a few brain cells away from being a very good player. Maybe a little love from the fans would help him. But I guess the Milan code these days is “everyone sucks and deserves to be sacked”
I agree with you! He works a lot but he luse concentration some times. He is a good prospect.
He works hard but he will never be a footballer. He just runs and hugs people. He has NO IDEA what to do with the ball. None.
He should switch to judo or wrestling. Or running. Football isn’t his thing and never will be.
You sound a mindless idiot. Musah is only 22 yrs old and will improve with time. He is a good player who has very good work ethics. He needs to improve on his shooting and passing in the final 3rd.
Kessie and Tonali had a bad 1st season at Milan. Both of them couldn’t shoot and score goals and they made a lot of bad passes but they improved with time.
Musah needs support from the fans and coaching staff and he will improve next 1-2 seasons.
Yes, he needs to have 7 years at Milan to adapt and develop. Maybe even 20. He showed he is lost in 2 season, goodbye
He needs a year or two out on loan to develop under less pressure.
He needs to be sold to cash in on him
I love your optimism that he’d only need 7 years.
as a midfielder He Only completed 11 passes over 51 mins!?? are you kidding me? Is this Milan in Serie A you’re talking about? and just a little bit over 80% successful passing rate (include backwards).
I’m wondering what kind of team you would build if youre a coach, with that 11 passes over 51 mins as a midfielder? 1 yellow card zero goal? is this a U12 football team? hahah grab some popcorn 😉
bunch of rubbish and nonsense.
What are you saying Kessie was terrible the first 2 seasons even though he had experience in Serie A give this kid some time. He can create his own chances and misses them so what as if Fofana would have created the chance again como. He just needs to work on his timing with the ball and it will come
Silly comment.
Musah has skill and tenacity. Granted his marksmanship could be awkward sometimes but he is a good player
you need to tell this to Rhino also
Zion train you are very much on point, Musa has the technique and workrate as Oyagie a midfielder so I believe with time and good nurturing from the coach d guy will become a beast like gatuso
I’m kind of in the middle. The nastiness of the commenters here and the fans in general has taken on a mean-spirited, vicious witch-hunt mentality. It’s usually hard for a player to overcome that.
At the same time, he needs to execute more at key moments. His role is not necessarily to score but to help bring the ball up with pace — which he has in spades — for others and play agressive defense. Since this doesn’t show up in stats it is underappreciated. If he leaves the team will lose some pace on both ends.
However, he has become such a villain in the eyes of fans, it may be best for him to seek redemption elsewhere or — my preference — go out on loan and rebuild confidence.
Omg. Musah doesn’t read comments here. There is nothing to overcome. Literally. He made a bunch of mistakes, got one of the most stupid red card and you are writing how he is playing aggressive defense. I don’t care if he makes mistakes that cost cards or a goal. Almost every single game the fool makes a big mistake.
“I don’t care if he makes mistakes that cost cards or a goal. ” I meant you don’t care?
In any case, not a Milan level player in my opinion, Bondo looks way better. Actually knows what he is doing on the field.
Musah is sound – get rid of Leao and our problems will be over – Sottil is the man for the left.
LOLOLOLOLOLO🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Musah is a top player………… If he played in MLS. He was bought to sell jerseys in the US
Pretty much. He appeals to a part of the market that RedBird wanted to corner. Pulisic sells merch, but he just doesn’t have enough melanin for that particular demographic they are targeting in their marketing campaigns. RLC was part of the same campaign and now they added Gimenz as the last piece of the puzzle.
You do know RLC is English right? So has nothing to do wi the the American market
Melanin rich, pretty and speaks perfect English. Ticks almost all of the boxes.
Musah has not been done any favors by this club. He has his strengths but also has a limted football I.Q. Constantly being asked to play different roles does not help that at all. I still think he can be useful if used correctly. He shouldn’t be a regular starter but can be useful if used as Fonseca did against Real Madrid, to help out the defense when facing fast tricky opponents like Vini and Mbappe. He really helped to neutralize those guys. If you give him a specific task or man to mark he can do the job, but don’t ask much more of him.
I agree
The fans are bitter and Musah is this month’s pinata.
But it’s true he should score a goal now and then.
I am one of the worst critics of him, but all i want him to do is, Do the Simple. He seems to want to try difficult things all the time. He carries the ball forward into traffic, Don’t get me wrong, he is successful sometimes but it’s risky, when a better option will be a one-two with a teammate and you are through. Watch him, even when he can do a give and go pass in a straight line, he would try and do a manoeuvre and then pass from there. Sometimes i wonder how he doesn’t roll his ankles.
In my opinion, the way he is built. He should model and aspire his game around the likes of Gattuso, Cocu, Van Bommel, Makalele.. Those guys kept it simple. Usually Invisible but man, did they do a Job.
Calabria with this performance got bashed
Mussahh with this performance got supported which even could go against the fans..?
Whats behind this..
rainbow, diversity, representation? maybe haha
“Versatility is his biggest strength” – that’s what this article claims.
It’s as lame as a statement as “diversity is our strength” when everyone knows that’s propaganda and a lie.
He hasn’t played well in any position. He hasn’t shown the technical skill required nor is he growing. Stop with the propaganda. Stop.
Why are you pushing that here? What’s wrong with you Oliver? Read what you write next time.
The problem with musah is 1 thing: intelligence. He has all the physical attributes to be great, but his decision making makes you wonder if his mom used his infant head as a basketball. He almost never makes the right final touch and takes far too many risks for someone who has never seen one pay off. He needs an actual high level manager to COACH him. At his current state, he’s simply a liability and ignoring that fact will benefit nobody
Perfect description of him.
I 100% agree with this comment.
Musah plays like a bull out of a gate and all his energy goes to waste when it counts. Against Como he had two glorious chance to ei their pass the ball or put it in net. He failed and then for his stupidity he collected a yellow card. He should have been substituted early in the first half. He isn’t disciplined enough to play smart.
Musa is the closest reincarnation of Gatuso. He just needs to special trainings on shooting. A very good player at 22.
Musah is a good player being coached by two terrible coaches. Deployed in every position in midfield, and surrounded by underperforming ‘superstars’. He may not be a starter in my team, but useful off the bench and good with the ball at his feet. Musah is NOT the reason this Milan team is struggling.
Who wrote this insane article??? Musahs father?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“ Musah has been criticised a lot in recent days but those boos are not in line with the ethical code of San Siro in recent weeks. He played a bad game against Como but once again he showed intensity, fight and the desire to make things happen, all qualities the supporters have actually been asking for.
The USA international doesn’t have the technique of a top Serie A player, but the fact he has only scored twice in his senior professional career says a lot. ”
So showing “intensity, fight and the desire to make things happen…” is the standard??? LOLOLOLO. Last I check he is a PROFESSIONAL footballer who is getting paid MILLIONS to show fight and intensity. Unreal. Ya it’s great he works hard but so does a fkn squirrel tiring to get a nut and they are often, like Musah, unsuccessful. Hell I can run around like crazy too and not accomplish anything so goes that mean I should be the starter in a double pivot with Fofana???🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We are not in primary school giving out participation trophies. This is professional football. He simply is not a player capable of playing at this level at this point in his career. Maybe one day he becomes better – BUT – if he wants AMERICAN – he would have lady been sold or loaned out. This kid gets chance after chance and is horrid and only gets more opportunities because he’s an American like Gerry and was a PR hire. That is it
Fkn EMBARRASSING.
If he “wasn’t” * AMERICAN he would have already* been sold or loaned out….
He should be loaned out and see if he can develop in peace and stop this nonsense of running him out there each week and watch him make low level mistake after mistake. Terrible
Yes you are…
I hardly ever agree with Juro but he nailed it here. 100%.
All those trash talking Musah. I’ll be my retirement money that he would pass all of you without any difficulty.
He needs to work on his finishing and passing. He has potential, a loan would do him good or maybe next season he’ll pull a Kessie and start to perform well. Kessie spent some 2 season before getting in form
I’d be willing to bet my house on the fact that I’d beat him in scoring any day, any place.
Simply answer right now is he needs to stop trying to do too much and pull back within himself. His model should be N’Golo Kante- great engine, great defense below average passer and below average on offense. Focus on defense, winning the ball, then a quick pass or break one line if there’s space, once you’re within 30 yds of the goal pass it. Get rid of the ball before you get into traffic. Should not play in an attacking role.
I don’t know why 20 M labeled to his mark. The foolest thing is Milan pay them.
Maybe he is American so Cardinale buy him.
Skill? He is a sprinter..not footballer
Like i said, RedTurd bought Musah solely to fill those DEI quota and to sell shirts for the American fans. And 20 million for this guy is atrocious.
I rather have Krunic, Adli, and Pobega on my starting lineup over Musah.
Musah makes everyone miss Krunic.
” Versatility is his biggest strength”
What? I thought his only strength was “potential”. 😀 😀 😀
I remember player like this was gattuso. He only can run and run and hold another player. Hahaha.. but the difference is ancelotti has idea and the gattuso mentality.
And Gattuso scored more goals in official matches than Musah ever will in trainings. 🙂
Musah is 22 and a beast in terms of versatility and physicality, he needs to train accuracy thats it
And defending and passing and teamplay and decision-making etc.
I am really grrateful to the holde of his site whho hhas shared thhis great
