Maurizio Sarri has given his priority to Serie A in terms of the next job he takes, and AC Milan cannot be ruled out as a potential destination.
When the decision was made towards the end of last season to part ways with Stefano Pioli, Sarri’s name was mentioned by multiple sources as being an option for Milan.
He is someone that knows the league having had success (in a relative sense) with Napoli, Juventus and Lazio, and he was also out of work having left the latter part way through 2023-24.
However, Milan opted for Paulo Fonseca and then sacked him before the new year, turning to Sergio Conceicao. Sarri was linked at that point too, and over the weekend responded to the idea he was offered a short-term deal by the Rossoneri.
In an update on his website, Alfredo Pedulla spoke about Sarri’s current situation and the desire for his next job to be in Italy, something that might see his path finally converge with Milan’s.
“Maurizio Sarri has been sidelined for almost a year, shortly before mid-March he decided to resign from Lazio after various misunderstandings and results not too close to his expectations,” he said.
“Since that day he has said no to various proposals from abroad, from Premier clubs not considered competitive and from Panathinaikos who had put a long and millionaire contract on the table. The Premier League remains his reference league, with a minimum of nostalgia for having left Chelsea early, but now there is no going back.
“Clearly Sarri would gladly stay in Serie A and would have said yes to Milan who had put him at the top of the list in the days of the farewell to Fonseca, but not for a six-month contract. Simply because he believes that at a big club there must be at least a two-year period to develop his work. Milan can always be a solution for the next few months if the club decides to end its relationship with Conceicao.
“But keep an eye on other possible ideas, Sarri’s profile could be liked by the Percassi family, without forgetting that in Serie A there are at least a couple of other open situations that will depend on the outcome of the current season. We are at the first traces, even if indicative: there is time.”
Can we bring gasperoni? We can pay Atalanta,
His work is amazing
Gasperin is perfect Also he announced that he will leave Atlanta its right time for us to try him
When did he say that
Sell this club to middle east, 80% problem will be solve
We all don’t need sarri our problem is that we need Quality players from right and left wingers and also attacking midfielders. We still Love Sergio conceicao in all he is the best. Look at Liverpool, realmadrid and Barcelona’s they all spend so let’s stop this drama of sacking coach we sacked Fonseca now we are talking of sacking Conceicao please and please Quality signings is all we need I gave a humble suggestions, which I remembered I said earlier sell Leao, pulisic replace them with Armand lauriente and Berardi I even said let’s sign Thiago Almanda or ritsu Doan and samardzic still you Acmilan management didn’t do it now I said let’s bench Theo Hernandez replace him with bartasaghi we need players that can do the job we don’t need big name players then can’t get it done so let’s remove it from our mind for now Conceicao should line up the 4-2-3-1 but we don’t need leao or Theo Hernandez we need pulisic to play leao wing then chukwueze should also start from wing the Reijnder should be starting steady as attacking midfield then why Felix will be coming from bench to replace Reijnder, then second half we need Sottil and Felix we don’t need Leao is not effective then we need Warren Bondo and Fofana for double pivot please I’m still begging Acmilan management let’s bring in Chaka Traore to first teams that’s my suggestion it will help is we can’t lose any other match again.
CHUKWUEZE …….. BIG JOKE …….OUT….SELL !!!!! LEFT FOOTED LOSER…
I wonder of De Zerbi could be an option. I could see him leaving Marsielle after one year, he’s doing a good job there.
What complete crap. They don’t sign coaches like Sarri, he’s a fraud and he’s old. Also an American company isn’t going to hire a commie.
There is nothing wrong with Sarri from a philosophy perspective. A lot of these coaches being bandied about have no style, no identity, cannot adapt to a different type of player and most of them fail when moved to a different set up. It’s either you have the money to buy a complete team like your PSG, Man C, or Real or you get an astute coach that can work the material at his disposal. I appreciate a different choice but not for ability on the part of Sarri.
…lack of ability…
If I remember correctly Lazio didn’t always follow him and his vision. He had similar problems with senior players (sms) and his man management wasn’t stellar.
Not sure he would be an upgrade to Conceicao.
I’m not sure either, but I’d at least rather take the chance on somebody who has had a track record of Serie A success.
We need a combative CDM , LB and another striker for sure…
