Sarri responds to question on offer from Milan: “Proposals structured in such a way”

Maurizio Sarri has responded to a question regarding an approach from AC Milan, refusing to give too much away regarding the reports of an offer being made.

Sergio Conceiçao was named as the new coach of Milan after the farewell of Paulo Fonseca at the end of December, but other options were considered.

Corriere dello Sport for example reported that on December 24 there was contact between the Rossoneri directors and Sarri, who however refused the offer from the Rossoneri.

The paper stated that what was put forward was a six-month contract with an option until 2026, though the Italian wanted greater guarantees about the time to work.

Sarri was interviewed by Corriere della Sera and he spoke about leaving Lazio as well as the rumours that offers have arrived in his inbox from other clubs since, with Calciomercato.com relaying his comments.

“Difficult due to personal problems. some were resolved, others still not. I lost my mother and an uncle to whom I was very close; my wife was in intensive care and I also had a problem. After the suffering we recovered,” he said.

“In this period I received more than one proposal and from different continents, for example from Arabia a very rich offer arrived; none of these calls, however, made me click inside to get back in the game.

“To bring back my enthusiasm, I need a great project. In the last ten years I have worked in important teams, now I hope to receive the right proposal to rekindle that spark. Otherwise I will still be standing still.

“A six-month contract offer from Milan? I won’t answer, in general I can say that I have received proposals structured in such a way as not to tempt me. Serie A is my home, the league best suited to my characteristics and the one in which I would feel most at ease. Then I also like the Premier League, there is a unique atmosphere there.”

  1. Secretly pining for him. Curious to see how his philosophy will pan out at Milan. One of the few coaches that still has a clear identity and style of play…

  2. For me Conceição is still the best option and I wouldn’t change him for Sarri. Milan needs to offload some players who are just not good enough like Chukwueze, Okafor, Tomori, Royal, Terracciano, RLC and Abraham.

And some players are just not living up to expectations such as Mike Maignan, Theo and Leao. I believe these players should also go and Milan should rebuild the team with QUALITY replacements especially with players who have proven themselves in the Champions League.

But first Milan needs to replace Moncada and sign an EXPERIENCED Sporting Director with Serie A experience to rebuild the team for Conceição.

    1. Mike I wouldn’t sell, you don’t see Madrid selling Coutoirs because of his injury issues. Mike has saved us for seasons he’s been better between the posts for us than Dida.

    2. Agreed.

But the players that should we sell this summer is Theo and Leao. Because they can give big money for Milan, and we can bring another good players.
