In recent weeks, Giovanni Sartori’s name has emerged as a potential candidate for AC Milan’s sporting director position, and the former Rossonero could be the man to lead the club forward.
Since Fabio Paratici’s exit from the race, the candidacy has opened once again, and there is only one candidate who has an ‘easy’ route to Milan. Igli Tare is that option, but the name of Sartori is consistently rising.

As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, the director is in the Rossoneri’s sights and there are several reasons why this is the case, but there are two that stand out.
Most importantly, he has proven successful in Italy previously, and done so, causing his clubs to rise significantly. Chievo, Atalanta and now Bologna, three clubs where his work has been miraculous, without him taking the limelight regularly. Instead, he is discreet and omnipresent, seeing everything from a background seat.
Then, there is the other aspect, which will also impress the Rossoneri – he makes the accounts tick. He buys cheap and sells high, and this has been seen on several occasions, leaving nothing to chance. Odgaard, who currently plays for Bologna, is only the latest example, but that follows Franck Kessie, Dejan Kulusevski and Gianluca Mancini. The proof is in the pudding.
You can also factor in managerial imports, which he will likely be deciding if he joins the Diavolo in the summer, Gasperini and Italiano, to name a few, both immensely successful in their current posts.
Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding, and Milan have their eyes eagerly on the Italian.

Who’s everyone betting on for tomorrow’s made up rumour? I’m going for Jose Silva of Benfica (how come we never looked at Rui Costa for that role in the past?).
When clubs are selling to the likes of Bologna Chievo Atalanta is different from selling to Milan, agent will definitely request high salary for their players cuz they know Milan is capable compare to Chievo, Bologna
this is correct 20 years ago, Milan has done a good job of redefining their stance on Salary and agent fees. It is pretty well known that they are not offering 10 million salary to anyone or even 7 million salary to new players unless they come with serious history of being a winner and also well talented enough. These are their new standards. For goodness sakes Leao only makes 5.5 Million fixed and it creeps on to 7 with bonuses.
My issue is that Milan can never become a selling club, their history and their fan base wont allow it. So these rumoured SD are mostly familiar with buying under developed players and then having them become 40 or 70 million euro player. This cannot be Milan because they need a bit more ready made players for their objectives and then maybe sell in order to build a better squad. The perameter is different from those other clubs is what I am saying
Also Bologna can afford to develop players, they have lower expectations, financial commitments and pressures. Milan is not a team to establish unknowns and give playing time to raw talents. The only way that is possible is when players arrive at a position where we are stacked or have a competent starter with a decent backup. Our roster is lacking a solid LB. midfield options, LW and RW for Puli. 2 Central Midfielders too. Same since Kessie left with Tonali. This hasn’t been addressed in years. Same for our RB position.
Tare is still the best option. Sartori is old and had some legal issues in the past similar to Paratici.
So, that kind of club our owners like to have: buy-cheap/sell-high kinda club. Good to know our future. I thought once we have been buy-quality/compete-for-titles kinda club…
Sartori would be a stellar appointment. But he needs to work autonomously. That’s the only way it will work.
There will be another name tomorrow and another one the day after tomorrow. Meanwhile Furlani is just chilling knowing people are waiting for him to act and that makes him feel good. Sicko.
Furlani will actually be getting on with it, not telling a different name to the press every few hours.
So we keep pursuing people at other clubs or who cannot commit when we need them to, that is immediately. Domestic rivals on top of it. This management is playing the waiting game again. No way Bologna will release him early enough for us to do everything we need to this summer. The work has to be done as we speak! It should already be prepared with concrete actions developing DAILY. Bologna are competing with us for European competition. They won’t help and will make it as difficult as possible to acquire him.
Sign Tare, get it over with. He is qualified and available. We need to pursue an option that is fully within our control and bot time dependent on other external factors. If they think this man is a better candidate for the future, secure him later. Right now we can’t afford to procrastinate or delay the preparation for next season. It is ridiculous the season is a few days away from ending, we have 2 contracts that require stumbling blocks to be rectified or the players have to go, here they are wasting more time.

Sartori is dream for me, but Tare is also a good option. Both are good at building teams, and that is what we need right now.
