Sassuolo 0-1 Milan Women: Rossonere secure crucial win after Asllani’s early opener

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan Women secured a much-needed win away at Sassuolo this afternoon and they have Kosovare Asllani to thank for it. The Swede gave the Rossonere the lead just 38 seconds into the first half.

Manager Maurizio Ganz, who has been under great pressure lately, has bought himself some more time with this win. Milan are now fifth in the standings but remain eleven points behind league leaders Roma, who also have a game in hand.

As said, Milan took an early lead this afternoon as an inswinging cross found Asllani in the box. The former Real Madrid player managed to beat the goalkeeper to the ball and thus broke a five-game goal drought.

Both teams had chances after that but the game finished 1-0 in favour of the Rossonere. The bad news, however, is that Christy Grimshaw left the pitch injured after a 50-50 duel, leaving her in a lot of pain. Hopefully, it’s not a serious injury.
