Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has admitted that it will be hard to keep top players at the club, confirming interest in Ismael Kone.

With Milan on the lookout for the right midfield reinforcements ahead of a season that will see them return to playing in Europe, Kone’s is the latest name to be strongly linked along with the likes of Leon Goretzka.

Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly a big admirer of the Canada international, who could join to help replace Youssouf Fofana and/or Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who are both believed to be available. Sassuolo for their part are a club that sells for the right price, but they might ask for counterparts.

Now, Sassuolo’s chief executive Giovanni Carnevali has spoken to La Gazzetta dello Sport about some of the talents that are attracting interest in view of the summer and could be the latest to be sold by the Neroverdi for a big capital gain.

“We currently have at least four players being courted by the big clubs: Muharemovic, Koné, Laurienté, Thorstvedt. We’d like to keep them all, because Sassuolo’s real goal isn’t to sell but to build a stronger team,” he said (via MilanPress).

“But we’re struggling to retain our talents, faced with offers of triple or quadruple salaries and the prospect of playing for a big club. That’s why it becomes very complicated to plan for their development. Every year we have to start over by dismantling something.”

    1. What is the frequency of Berardis? Like .1% of footballers stay at their club as long as he has. At least ones that are good. Berardi is an exception, not a rule.

    2. Wholup fellas, not every comment here should spark a debate.

Berardi is a Bandiera, like it or not, and the reason he is can be due to a mixture of him being scared his comfort zone and Giovanni Carnevali playing hardball to sell him off, so we can all be correct at the same time without having to debate it out.

A club that tends to dismantle every season and managed to hold on to his most valuable player for the past 12 or 15 years is quite an achievement and that was why I tried to state that the relationship has borne a bandiera out of Berardi which of course I believe he himself would be proud of.
There’s no where I referred to it being a rule or an exception, you gotta chill.

    1. You’re right. He’d fit right in at RedBird.

You know what I was wondering though? Unpopular opinion, but what if Furlani never properly reinforced any of the coaches because they weren’t serious or respectable? Pioli, Fonseca, Conceicao… all stop gaps.

In comes Allegri. I wonder if they show intent this summer.

      1. And we still had a dismal performance especially taking into consideration that we had no European competition, we were booted out of the cup by December.

Allegri isn’t the one, we need to pass. I hope he goes to Madrid or the NT

      2. Never properly reinforced?!?! Because 10 players every season isn’t enough! Stop talking nonsense. They’ll spend as much as they can while avoiding getting back into debt.
