Giovanni Carnevali, the CEO of Sassuolo, was asked about AC Milan’s alleged interest in Ismael Kone before the game this afternoon.
Kone is one of the midfielders who have been linked with Milan in the last few months. Just a few days ago, Oliver named the 23-year-old in an article about six Sassuolo players that the Rossoneri should have a look at this summer.
Speaking to DAZN before the game, as transcribed by MilanNews, Carnevali made it clear that he hasn’t spoken to Milan or Inter, for that matter, about Kone. He did, however, refuse to rule out a mercato derby between the two once the summer comes around.
“I haven’t spoken to Milan or Inter about Kone. We have enquiries from abroad, so he has an international presence and is valuable. It’s possible that a derby between Inter and Milan could be kick-started: we need to think about finding the best solution for him, but also for us,” he stated.
While he wasn’t a massive standout today, Kone certainly did well in the centre of the park and once again confirmed that it has been a very positive season for him. Whether he’s good enough to be a reinforcement that Milan need, on the other hand, is a very different question.

Omg… this is not a signing that would progress this team at all. Welcome 5th place if we make these types of signings.
