Sassuolo striker drops strong hint he would like to play at Milan with Ibrahimovic amid links

By Oliver Fisher -

Striker Gianluca Scamacca appears to have dropped a big hint that he would be willing to join AC Milan this summer, a report claims.

Il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported yesterday how the renewal of Ibrahimovic is very close to official status, so Milan are continuing to follow some leads to secure a substitute for the Swede in view of next season. The Scamacca hypothesis remains open, a player who the Rossoneri tried for during the winter transfer market session but Sassuolo did not want to sell.

Sky Italia then added that (via MilanNews) Milan will return to the market if neither Mandzukic nor Leao convince between now and May, and among the names being considered is Scamacca of Genoa – currently on loan from Sassuolo – who will have an audition of sorts against Milan on Sunday.

Now, the player himself has given a long interview to Sportweek – the weekly magazine of La Gazzetta dello Sport – which will be released tomorrow. As per MilanNews, the Genoa forward said: “A young player must play as much as possible, stealing the secrets. Then it is clear that if you are the deputy of a champion who, however, cannot play all of them at 38, the situation changes.”

It is believed to be a reference to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has always been Scamacca’s idol, and also appears to be an admission that he would not say no if Milan came knocking as he could learn from one of the best.
