Scamacca admits he is flattered by Ibrahimovic comparisons and finds transfer links ‘pleasing’

By Oliver Fisher -

Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca has admitted that he is flattered about being compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic amid links with a move to Milan.

A number of sources are claiming that Scamacca is one of the targets that the Rossoneri management have circled on their wish list and that he is being monitored with great attention. The 23-year-old has racked up 12 goals in 27 league games so far this season and has also strongly been linked with a move to city rivals Inter.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) even reported that Inter are struggling to close the deal because they are aiming to get a loan with option to buy, something Sassuolo are not convinced by, while the Rossoneri have more financial firepower to seal a €40m deal if they choose Scamacca.

Interviewed by il Corriere dello Sport, Scamacca commented on his future and whether he could move on to a club ready to fight for trophies during the summer transfer window.

“I don’t think about it, I’ve never given myself limits. When there is a decision, I will follow my heart,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“I went abroad once and it doesn’t scare me to make that choice again. The voices of interest from big clubs are pleasing, they are a stimulus. But I don’t follow the transfer market too much, certain situations don’t materialise quickly ”

On being compared with Ibrahimovic, he added: “He is a champion, being likened to such a champion is only nice. But I have my way, my way of playing.”
