Why Scamacca’s move to Atalanta could be a blessing for Milan

By Euan Burns -

Atalanta seem to have beaten Inter and AS Roma to the signing of Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham United in the Premier League, which could end up being great news for AC Milan.

The Italian striker struggled in his first season in the Premier League and has been linked with almost every top Italian club, including Milan at times.

Inter seemed the likely destination but Atalanta have moved fast and he has arrived in Italy to undergo his medical. This could be great for Milan because West Ham have been showing interest in Divock Origi, but have been reluctant to bid.

Now that they have got Scamacca off of the books, they need a reinforcement in attack and they could present an official bid swiftly for Origi.

Selling Origi, as well as others, would allow Milan to start moving for some of their final targets during the very busy 2023 summer transfer window.

  1. I would consider it a bigger blessing signing scamacca than selling origi to be honest and that is regardless that i would like the belgian to get sold.

    1. I like the way the management are playing the transfer market.

The first phase of their plan was verging on genius they got 8 excellent talents for the sacrifice of Tonali

The second phase is now getting rid of the deadwood consisting of selling around 7 players and buying 2-3 quality players to lift the level of the squad further.

It all seems just so pre meditated and well thought out, that is what is so impressive, you must really doff your cap to Furlani and Moncada, they have done the graft and are almost cherry picking their transfers.

      Brava👍

      1. Well as much as i was sad and still is somewhat disapointed about losing both maldini and tonali in june i absolutely do recognize the moves we have done afterwards but we will also have to gel fast from the get go or risk some questions marks hanging over our heads but i personally think we have vastly improved the squad on paper. We will most likely come out stronger than last season at least in serie a as i expect us to fight for the scudetto but i also do have hopes that we will get somewhat far into the cl but i doubt we will reach the semis though but who knows how that might pan out as the team should be able to take on most teams if gelled well and in form.

  2. Part of me is happy he didn’t go to Inter. Scamacca will do great in Atalanta. Mark this comment. The directors and higher ups at Inter & Atalanta surely know more about player’s potential rather than the random PhD (Personal hate Disorder) commenters here.

    1. I assume you are a hammers fan and Ive always sympathized with west ham who easily could have been a far bigger club if they kept their homegrown talents but come on origi is exactly what you need 😀

  3. All the Milan midfielders are not up to Toneli of Last season if you combine them all. We will miss toneli more than Kessie this time around

  4. Scamacca to Atalanta could make Zapata available – and for only 15M – we should jump at the chance to sign him. Although a bit older (30) he’s still a beast and would look great next to Leao and Chukwueze as a starter with Giroud backing him up and being saved for UCL games

    1. I wouldn’t mind Zapata to add to the mix, but not at 15m. He was a beast, but you can see he has slowed down a bit over the last couple of seasons (only had 2 goals in 25 appearances last term). It would be an equivalent move to signing Arnautovic (Zapata is 32 btw), which in that case I would say just sign Arnautovic since he’s still scoring goals. Just don’t know why they didn’t spend the 12m to sign Veliz.
