The new stadium project is a big one for AC Milan, Inter and Italian football generally. However, the figures discussed could be lucrative.

Given the current state of San Siro, it does not take a genius to see that work needs to be done. Rather than prolonging the process, though, they have opted to build a new stadium instead of renovating the current iconic ground.

Of course, this comes with worries about what a new structure will look like. However, it is vital for the clubs, and there could be significant financial gains from the opening of a new stadium.

Indeed, the project will be costly, but given it is shared between the two Milanese clubs, it is not as much of a strain. In fact, it may not be a strain at all, with Paolo Scaroni holding the belief that it can be a significant revenue maker from the off.

Speaking at the Motore Italia-Edizione Milano Olimpica Internazionale 2026 event, he offered some more information about the stadium, via Calciomercato.com.

“In this direction, the new stadium project is very important, guided and supported by RedBird and the strategic vision of Gerry Cardinale.

“For the city and the surrounding area, we are talking about a private investment of approximately €1.5 billion: an infrastructure inserted into a new, modern and green neighborhood, with over 50% of the area dedicated to parks and public spaces, designed to be enjoyed 365 days a year.

“The project has the potential to generate over €4.5 billion in economic impact during the construction phase and over €3 billion annually once fully operational . For AC Milan, this means €100 million in additional stadium revenue, a crucial step in strengthening the Club’s competitiveness and offering fans a modern experience.

“This project is supported by our ownership, RedBird, which brings international expertise in stadium development, in line with AC Milan’s virtuous model based on sporting competitiveness and financial discipline.”
