Scaroni reflects on role as president and how Milan have ‘revitalised’ Giroud

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has spoken about the golden moment that Olivier Giroud is currently experiencing and about his own role as president.

Scaroni was interviewed by Sky Italia as part of the Dubai training retreat that the team and staff are currently enjoying and his comments were transcribed by MilanNews, starting with how it feels to be back in the country.

“Here in Dubai I saw many local fans with whom I took selfies. Milan are very popular,” he said.

Giroud was the hero for France again last night as they advanced to the semi-finals of the World Cup thanks to his winning goal with 12 minutes left in the game. France took the lead through Aurélien Tchouameni in the first half but then Harry Kane equalised, though Giroud had the last laugh.

On Giroud, Scaroni added: “He’s doing very well, I think qualifying is very much linked to him. We’ve revitalised him and with us he’s found a new motivation that he’s transferred to France.”

Finally, Scaroni spoke about his position as president of the club, something which is not to be taken lightly and has seen him experience many ups and downs over the past half a decade.

“I was there when Milan was owned by the Chinese. I lived through difficult moments. When I became president it was a stormy day in Milan, and this reminded me of what I had been through. It’s a magical moment.”
