Schira: Giroud rejects lucrative salary in Saudi Arabia with MLS move on the cards

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud looks destined to move away from the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, and today, a journalist reported that the Frenchman recently turned down an eye-watering salary from a Saudi Arabian club.

Whilst Giroud is still performing to a high standard for Milan, at 38 years old, the Rossoneri are reluctant to offer him assurances that his playing time will remain the same if he signs a new contract with the club.

Given the Frenchman still feels able to consistently play at a high level, the signs seem to point in the direction of the veteran leaving the club at the end of his contract, with Los Angeles FC reportedly in advanced talks with him.

Reports have suggested that a move to America is his preference at the end of his contract, and today, Nicolo Schira reported on his X account that the veteran striker has rejected a deal from Saudi Arabia. It is believed he was offered a two-year contract from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club worth €10 million per year.

It is known that Giroud is waiting until the end of the current season to make a decision, but a move away from the club seems increasingly likely.

  1. I really hope he stays for another season as it would soften the arrival of a marquee signing as we would still be able to count on Giroud’s contributions and he should regardless still be able to get enough minutes to stay satisfied. I will be disapointed if he doesn’t renew as he could always get his American adventure in a year or even just from the end of January
