Schira: Milan dealt blow as Nottingham Forest will not redeem loan flop

By Isak Möller -

Divock Origi joined Nottingham Forest on an initial loan deal ahead of the season and AC Milan were hoping that the English side would eventually redeem him. However, according to a journalist, the striker will be sent back to the Rossoneri.

On deadline day, Milan reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for a season-long loan with an option to buy at €4.5m. However, the season has been far from successful for Origi with just one goal in 22 appearances.

According to the journalist Nico Schira, Nottingham Forest have decided not to exercise the buy-out clause in Origi’s contract, meaning he will return to Milan. The management will thus have to find yet another destination for the struggling 29-year-old, which might not be that easy.

During the January transfer window, there were reports of an MLS move with Milan pocketing around €5m, but that fell through. It remains to be seen if MLS will be an option in the summer as well, with the Rossoneri still hoping to make a capital gain of some sort.

Origi joined the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 and he scored just two goals in his first season with the Rossoneri. Earning a hefty €4m net per season as well, it’s clear that he will leave one way or another this summer.

        1. What headaches exactly? Seems you are bashing Maldini in a passive aggressive manner – so pls explain what “headaches” are you referring to?

  1. Please sign guirassy if you can’t afford expensive striker, if no striker comes, we could be forced to use the moneyball FOURSOME consists of Origi, Colombo, Lazetic, and Jovic 😀

  2. This guy is such a total waste! It seems like he’s not even trying anymore. He’s probably just happy to get the check.

  3. I think for instant recruitment for striker Position Guirassy is to target (more cheap than the other target), plus Milan should combine senior team n reverse team from junior team, rotate player is must. Give more minutes playing for youngster. Camarda, Nastri, colombo, lazetic de katelaere young ster need more minutes playing

  4. Since we clearly have players in the forward department and it’s clear we’re looking for a “prolific” striker, I hope that this time around he’ll understand that we have no place for him and won’t put much of a fight when we’ll try to offload him somewhere else.

  5. Be honest, any one of us expect Nottingham to buy him? No chance, not after the season he is having. Not even if Nottingham stay at PL, less so when they got relegated.

    1. Sending him there didn’t solve the root of the problem. Just put a bandaid on it. Along with the Lazetic’s, Toure’s and Pellegrino’s of this club.

  6. Z = Giroud = Jovic = Origi = cheap/ free

when it’s working (Z & Giroud), Malda: fine job, owner: miracle job

when isn’t working (Origi), Malda: disaster (must be fired), owner: fine job
