Schira: Milan’s plan for Coubis outlined after ordeal with knee injury

Andrei Coubis was talked about as one of the most promising players in the entire AC Milan youth sector heading into this season, but it has not been the campaign he hoped for.

Coubis was born in the city of Milan to Romanian parents and he started his career with Lombardia Uno, the same Milanese team in which Sandro Tonali started playing. He stands at 1.90m tall and is a giant physically compared to the opponents he faces.

He also became a staple of Ignazio Abate’s side during their run to the UEFA Youth League final four during the 2022-23 season, and to this point he has made 100 appearances in the various youth sectors at Milan for whom data is recorded.

After a long ordeal caused by a serious knee injury, the defender did not have a positive 2023-24 and he became a bit of an afterthought while Jan-Carlo Simic and Clinton Nsiala filled his place and did so very well.

However, according to Nicolo Schira (via Radio Rossonera), Coubis is ready to return and will do so with Daniele Bonera’s U23 team, with the club hoping for the side to get official registration for the next Serie C season.

Now 20 years of age, the hope is that Coubis can continue his development and at a higher level, and Schira rules out the notion of him leaving during the summer.

  1. Probably the ‘defender most likely to succeed’ a couple of years back.

If he can re-find his form he has all the potential to be another player we regret selling 😀
