Schira: Three clubs ask for Liberali on loan but Milan’s plan involves first team

AC Milan have received enquiries about Mattia Liberali from clubs in Italy but they already have a clear plan drawn up for him, according to a report.

Liberali’s name has been one of the most talked about during Milan’s preseason campaign. After getting a surprise start against Rapid Wien in the first summer friendly, he then showed very positive things in the USA against Manchester City and Real Madrid.

In Chicago, against the European champions, he saw the space open after a turnover by Brahim Diaz and attacked it, accelerating and providing a perfect pass for Samuel Chukwueze to notch an assist. That was a glimpse of everything that the teenager can and will provide.

According to the latest from Nicolo Schira, three Serie B clubs have already shown interest in signing the 17-year-old playmaker on loan, but Milan seem intent on keeping him. The plan that the management have is that he will shuttle between the first team and Milan Futuro.

Something that might have opened up more opportunities for him is Fonseca’s apparent desire to use a natural creative midfielder behind the striker rather than someone like Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and that means he could well end up as Christian Pulisic’s deputy.
