SempreMilan’s Player of the Month for November: Dynamic duo falls just short

By Ivan Stoev -

November was full of games for Milan with many injuries and a lot of rotation between Serie A and Europa League. Despite this, the Rossoneri are still performing very well in both competitions.

In a month with a tight schedule, there was a lot of rotation and a lot of different standout performances. However, as hard as it can be, we have to choose three players. For the third consecutive time, both Kessie and Ibra are in the top-three.

This time, they have got company from none other than Bennacer, who has been very good ever since the season started. Let’s take a look at the rankings of the three players, based on our game ratings.

3. Franck Kessie – Average rating: 6.5

What more is there to say about Kessie? A year ago, there wasn’t a game after which he didn’t receive criticism, but the Ivorian has grown and matured into a terrifying midfielder to face for the opponents.

It’s the third time he’s included in our player of the month rankings, and for good reason. Franck has been a rock in the heart of the midfield and together with Bennacer, the two are dominating every opposing midfield they face. Despite two goals and two assists, he will have to settle for third place.

2. Ismael Bennacer – Average rating: 6.5

It’s a first for the Algerian in the monthly rankings and it’s well deserved. The former Empoli man has developed massively since his arrival and he continues to improve and take on more responsibility this season as well.

As mentioned above, his partnership with Kessie looks frighting. Bennacer is the more technical of the two and his balance and agility combined with delightful ball control allows him to get out of tight situations and carry the ball forward.

He has grown confidence-wise as well and we have seen some delightful passes from the Algerian. This has all earned him second place in our rankings.

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Average rating: 6.5

This Swede finally manages to get the top spot and win our Player of the Month, with four goals and an assist in three Serie A games this month. He won his team the game against Udinese, kept the unbeaten run going (in the league) against Verona and scored a brace against Napoli.

Ibrahimovic has been simply outstanding thus far this season. His professionalism and dedication should be an example for all the young players. He keeps amazing people with his difference-making ability and hopefully, he will be back from his injury very soon. With that said, putting him in first place was inevitable.
