Serafini: Milan must start again after ‘bleak’ recent record against Inter

AC Milan will take on Inter in the Derby della Madonnina after the international break. After four losses in the last four games against the Nerazzurri, the Rossoneri will be looking to start again, as Luca Serafini highlights.

The two teams faced each other a whopping five times last season: twice in the league, once in the Supercoppa Italiana final and twice in the Champions League. Milan won the first of these clashes but then lost the other four.

In his latest editorial for MilanNews, Luca Serafini talked about the derby and stated that Stefano Pioli’s men will have to start again after the ‘bleak’ recent record. Indeed, it’s an opportunity to bounce back properly.

“The countdown to the derby has begun. The key phrase for Milan must be ‘now that’s enough’. The record in the last four games is bleak: four defeats, zero goals scored. It’s time to leave this behind and start again.

“Inter have been as surprising as the Rossoneri at the start of this season: many changes compared to last season, yet an already well-defined physiognomy and self-esteem that get the engine going.

“The other big surprise is statistical: I really didn’t know that this will be the first time derby when both teams are at the top of the standings since 1962 when, however, Fiorentina were also on par with them,” he writes.

Milan and Inter are both in first place with nine points after three games. Inter are yet to concede a goal and thus have a better goal difference, but both found the back of the net eight times. In short, the game will be a very exciting one.
