A Serbian journalist has claims that Milan would be a more than suitable destination for Fiorentina’s rising star Dusan Vlahovic.
The 21-year-old striker has taken the full weight of the Fiorentina attack on his shoulders in a season during which the club has struggled, scoring 15 goals in the league, 6 of which have come in the last 3 games.
Calciomercato.com recently reported that the former Partizan Belgrade man’s future may be away from Florence as his contract is set to expire in 2023, and renewal negotiations are not moving forward.
Dragan Čiča – a journalist for Sport Klub television – was interviewed exclusively by MilanNews to take stock of the situation surrounding Vlahovic.
In recent days there has been talk of Milan’s interest in Vlahovic. Do you think he could be the right striker to join Ibrahimovic next season and then take his place in the next?
“Dusan is a footballer with incredible talent, he has practically everything, from physical structure to technical qualities. He is a centre-forward who can perform similar tasks during the match. On the pitch he gets along well, naturally, a fundamental aspect for footballers. He also never hid that Zlatan is his idol, I think he can improve even more by his side.”
Vlahovic has improved a lot this season, becoming a full-fledged starter at Fiorentina and scoring fifteen goals. Do you think he could be ready for the big leap in a club like Milan?
“He absolutely has the qualities to play for Milan, one of the best clubs in Italy. Dusan is very intelligent, he is a powerful striker who has a fantastic sense of goal.”
When Dusan was playing for Partizan, was there a feeling that he could become a great forward in the future? What is the general opinion in Serbia towards him at the moment?
“He is the youngest debutant and scorer in Partizan history, and in 2016 he became the youngest to play in the eternal derby against Red Star. Everyone in Serbia is aware of his talent and considers him one of the most complete strikers that this country has had.”
Currently there is talk of at least 40 million euros for him, is this a correct assessment or could it be a bit excessive?
“In the transfer market there are many overpaid players. In his case, considering his age and talent, I think he is worth all that money, maybe even more. I’m sure he can become an elite forward in the future.”
