Serginho tips Milan to sign a ‘strong’ Brazilian player ‘sooner or later’

By Oliver Fisher -

Serginho believes that AC Milan will soon sign a ‘strong Brazilian’ player for the squad, given that it has been a while since they had one of the very top level.

Serginho was interviewed on the sidelines of the Trento Sports Festival by the press present, including TMW correspondents, and he spoke about the Rossoneri’s start to the 2023-24 season so far.

“I think that Milan started the season very well well, we had that setback against Inter, but you can see that they’re playing well. It’s a young group but one that can become a strong team,” he said.

Milan’s own relationship with signing Brazilian players has been more down than up recently. Messias did make some valuable contributions including the Scudetto season, but there have been others that struggled like Rodrigo Ely and Lucas Paqueta.

The former midfielder and full-back was asked the question why are there so few Brazilians in Italy now compared to before, when the likes of Dida, Thiago Silva, Cafu and Kaka used to decide games on the biggest stages.

“The Brazilian fantasy is over… We haven’t had it for a while, we had Messias at Milan. It’s a moment in which Brazilian football is recovering, it’s not clear who really has quality. I believe that sooner or later a strong Brazilian will arrive in Milan.”

  2. The good Brazilians okay for Real. Apart from those two, there’s not alot to choose from. We really have to scout hard to find the next Kaka again and that’s quite difficult to do
