CorSera: Referee in tears after mistake in Milan-Spezia as Ibrahimovic and others console him

By Oliver Fisher -

Referee Marco Serra is the centre of a storm after his controversial decision during last night’s game between AC Milan and Spezia likely cost the home side all three points.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) talks about Serra’s mistake as ‘serious, very heavy and unacceptable at certain levels’. The decision to not play an advantage for a foul on Rebic therefore ruling out a goal scored by Messias in the final minutes of the game cannot go unpunished, but the problem is nothing will now directly compensate Milan.

Stefano Pioli and the Milan squad took the blow with style, without screaming or shouting scandal. The referee realised the mistake that he made and according to what was reported by the well-known newspaper, he was even in tears after the match.

Those who saw him at the end of the games, away from the cameras, described Serra as in shock and Ibrahimovic, along with four or five of his team-mates, even consoled him in the dressing room. It was a fitting gesture from an experienced player who understood the young referee’s moment, which will likely be costly in terms of a suspension.

    1. It’s over Milan has trouble in the back, Maldini has no money to plug up centre back issue and midfield Inter will sign Kamarra and title will be Inter’s
      Pioli will go!

    1. Have a little compassion man… He didn’t do it on porpouse. A good team choke the adversary in the last 15 minutes if the score doesn’t suit them. We werent good enough. Our midfield played above my expectations but below serie A average. Maybe a draw would have been fair

  1. i wish i could afford to say ” it’s ok” for that decision by the ref. but the damage has been done. also collina is the one who controls the quality of refs still we’ve been the one to experience bad refereeing decisions. indeed we missed too many chances but this wasn’t our day. we have beasts in form of leao, theo, maignan, tomori, tonali and rebic but we need more from a striker and diaz was just dead. neither baka or krunic were good in the midfield but you have to give credit to messias for being simple and effective and the goal should’ve counted. the chances created indicate that other teams can be in trouble if and only if those chances are taken.

  2. I ALSO HAE INTER FANS MOCKING US AND ALSO THE FACT THAT THEY GLORIFY MOTTA BECUASE HE WON BY CHEATING, TEACHES US THAT WE ARE AS AC MILAN FAN BETTER, HUMBLE AND BETTER THAN THOSE INTER SNAKES. WE WILL WIN ONE DAY AND WE WILL WIN BIG.

  3. umm ok atleast he cares for his error but we got robbed too much. Porto, atleti, napoli and now this so we cant really leave him that means alot. Serie a should do something. We’ve been rob in atalanta and verona and roma too but we survived so ig milan should get rematch for this so unfair. No gyasi red card which could have been a boost. There should be a decision by poor serie a management why are we targeted.

  4. I’m baffled and shocked that Referee shed tears, that means he is aware of the consequences of his actions that us ITALIAN FA for you!!! If it is English premiere league FA ref would not regret his actions talk more of shedding tears because he knew that nothing will happened to him. I envy ITALIAN TEAMS. In England refs will spoiled a football game by mistake/corruption and then another corrupt RETIRED REF will be hired to justify the mistakes as a right decisions, it is unprofessional !!! English premiere League FA need to wake up and stop those corrupt practices because the whole world is watching….. Call a spate a spate PERIOD!!! If the refs are responsible for their actions it will go a long way in avoiding corrupt practices and unnecessary mistakes in the games thereby adding value and respect for English premiere league.
