The mayor of Sesto San Giovanni has described AC Milan’s hypothesis for a new stadium as ‘strong and concrete’.
The suggestions that AC Milan are going to build their own separate stadium at the site of the former Falck steelworks in Sesto San Giovanni are increasing rapidly as the club has grown tired with trying to build a new ground in San Siro.
The mayor of Sesto San Giovanni, Roberto Di Stefano, has been very clear that he would really like a new stadium to be built in his municipality, whether it is shared by the two clubs or just for Milan.
He is happy with how the plans are progressing and believes it is good news for Milan fans, as he stated on his Instagram page.
“Today, good news for our city. The hypothesis of the new Milan stadium in Sesto San Giovanni is strong and concrete.
“In today’s Corriere della Sera there is talk of the new project, signed by the well-known architect Norman Foster who designed the entire former Falck area, for the Milan stadium.”
He went on to describe what the stadium and the surrounding complex would be like, as well as the local job creation that would come with it.
“The idea is to build a modern stadium with 60-70 thousand seats, sustainable and, above all, aimed at families with services active 7 days a week.
“A project that would also have an important commercial and museum area, would be integrated with the park’s green system and connected to T5, which would be the gateway to the stadium.
“We believe in it: Sesto San Giovanni is well connected as far as transport is concerned, the new Milan stadium would mean a considerable spin-off for the area, thousands of jobs, new investments, an overall improvement of our city, a new area alive 7 days a week, tourism and property revaluation.
“We support this project with conviction, aware that we need to think big for the city of the future, a city with an international profile.”
