Ruben Amorim and Gerry Cardinale will now be almost directly responsible for what happens at AC Milan and there are a few pros and cons.
With Milan not hiring a Head of Football or technical director from outside of the club, they are left with a head coach, who will now be a manager. Indeed, this is not necessarily a bad thing. However, it causes questions.

What leads to even more doubts is the involvement of Cardinale, who now seems to be the primary decision maker with the Rossoneri and understandably, some are worried about what this may mean.
Ultimately, his ownership of the club so far has not been successful. So, doubts are there.
Cardinale and Amorim to lead
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via MilanVibes, this morning, there are several pros and cons to the decision.
Firstly, the streamlining of the decision-making process is something which must be appreciated after the lengthy process to hire a manager, technical director and so on. This move, then, should lessen that time and make things smoother.
Indeed, he will have a major say in what happens with the club and who is recruited.
However, you are now relying on two figures without a ‘well-established network of relationships for transfer market logic’, which is a major risk. Additionally, as ‘the inexperience of the two assistants in that role could hinder the pace needed to revolutionise the squad’.
It is undoubtedly a risk and you’d feel that the margins for error have never been so small.
I have a feeling Milan may already have an agreement in principle with Markus Krösche to become Head of Football next season.
It would also explain why the club hasn’t rushed to permanently fill some of the other executive positions. If Krösche is expected to take charge of the football structure, it would make sense to wait and allow him to help shape the organization according to his own vision.
Of course, this is just my theory, but it would explain some of the decisions Milan has made recently. Rather than making short-term appointments, they may be planning for a larger restructuring once Krösche becomes available.
Which just means more changes again next season. We keep doing this nonsense every year not realizing (the owner that is) it’s a destabilizing force that shows up in the results
This is a hope at best. The problem is that as Gerry has shown, there’s never any great sporting plan in the works in the background. Everything is haphazard – nothing thought through or planned for.
Just look at the last four years. From attacking coach Pioli to possession style Fonseca – to Conceicao – to defensive Allegri – back to Amorim… All the meanwhile the people behind the scenes are all incompetent.
There’s only ever one real mission:
1. Move with the stadium
2. Get NBA in
3. Base ATP in San Donato
4. SELL THE DAMN THING AND CASH OUT.
Kroesche is just a plan to keep the club running at low cost and self sustainability while the big plan is in motion.
Banter era 2.0 has become irreversible at this point, only this one will hit even harder as our gap with top club was already huge, now it will become impossible to catch up anymore… My poor Milan didn’t deserve this
The gap between Milan and Juve was far larger 10 years ago than Milan have between Inter now. Napoli will be worse this year, Roma will be over committed, Como could be spread too thin as well. Milan’s squad up until 4 months ago was good enough to challenge for the scudetto a revolution isn’t necessary just some key additions and solid coaching/tactics
I watch the WC match uruguay vs cave verde and I can see that cave verde play so much better football than ac milan last season!!
With Allegri in charge of Milan last season it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone really.
Well seeing some of Amorim’s last season games with United, I’d say we won’t probably improve by much.
United are my “second team” – nowhere near Milan obv but I saw a good amount of their games under Amorim and let’s just say it was painful…
To be fair watching united under most of their managers the last 10 years has been painful
