Several sources confirm Milan have wrapped up €8m deal for midfielder with loan involved

By Oliver Fisher -

Several sources have confirmed the earlier indiscretions that AC Milan have wrapped up a deal with Bordeaux for midfielder Yacine Adli.

RMC Sport (via GFNF) reported in the last hour that the Ligue 1 side have accepted a €10m bid from Milan for Adli that was placed earlier today, with a positive conclusion now having been reached after weeks of negotiations.

Now, Emery Taisne of L’Equipe confims that Adli is expected in Milan this afternoon. The 21-year-old will sign for the Rossoneri this evening before being loaned back to Bordeaux for the remainder of the season.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com claims Milan and Bordeaux have reached a total agreement for Adli at €8m plus bonuses and the player will remain in France on loan, a figure which is confirmed by Luca Cilli of Sportitalia, while Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews also tweeted that it is in fact a done deal.

Di Marzio of Sky reports that Adli is already on a flight to Italy and today he will undergo his medical ahead of a move worth €10m including bonuses and he will remain on loan to Bordeaux.

    1. We already have 5 players for the 2 positions of holding midfielders in Kessie, Bennacer, Bakayoko, Tonali, Krunic. So Adli would have had not much time to play if he were immediately brought to Milan’s roster. Otherwise, I believe loaning him to Bordeaux rightaway would have made the transfer price cheaper and more attainable for Milan.

      1. Exactly. I also feel this means Kessie will leave on a free next summer. I think the club has made the decision to keep him and use his quality on the pitch for this last season and then let him go. The reduction in Adli’s cost probably closely corresponds to the highest bid they received for Kessie in this window, which my gut tells me is 10mm. Had they sold Kessie for that and bought Adli for 15mm it would have meant -5mm. Now it essentially means an additional 3mm spend (8mm for Adli purchase, 0mm for Kessie free transfer) in exchange for 1 more year of Kessie and while Adli continues to develop at Bordeaux. Since that ends up being the difference I think the calculation is that there is more value in keeping Kessie for the one year as it’s imperative that we qualify for the UCL again if this project is going to keep going in the right direction.

  1. Great signing for great price. I think it’s also cover in the event we lose Kessie for free next year…Nowe we need a RW – Fairve!
