Shevchenko believes Milan will ‘fight to win the group’ ahead of Liverpool clash

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of tonight’s clash between AC Milan and Liverpool, which will start in under 40 minutes, Andriy Shevchenko spoke to the media about the game. Of course, the Rossoneri legend knows a thing or two about facing Liverpool.

The Rossoneri are back in the Champions League for the first time in seven years and it will be an exciting game this evening. It’s the first time they will play at Anfield, having just faced the Reds at neutral ground before.

In an interview with MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Shevchenko shared his thoughts on the game tonight. He also, as always, made it very clear that the Rossoneri will always be in his heart after the many years spent at the club.

On the match seen against Lazio…

“It’s wonderful to have seen Milan at the stadium and the first half with Lazio in which the team played aggressively.”

On the emotions of Milan…

“This shirt and the fans are in my heart. Coming back here is always a special emotion.”

On the Champions League group…

“Rightly, it’s a difficult group but also for the other teams. I think Milan will be able to fight to win this group. It’s a balanced group and from this group, the players will be able to grow and learn a lot.”

A message to the fans…

“Forza Milan per sempre!”

Hopefully, Milan will get a decent result from tonight’s clash as it would certainly boost their confidence ahead of Sunday, when they will face Juve. For that game, you could even argue that they are favourites.
