This evening, AC Milan have confirmed that Diego Sia has left the club on loan, joining CD Mirandes, who are bottom of the Spanish second division.
With the Futuro project, Milan need to ensure that players are developing at the right rate. However, there will always be limitations to playing in Serie D. So, this is why loan options have been heard for Sia, who is an exciting player with lots of potential.
Sia departs
After a few rumours about his future, the move was confirmed by Milan this evening, with the following statement published on the club’s website.
“AC Milan can confirm that Diego Sia has joined Club Deportivo Mirandés on loan until the end of the season. The Club would like to wish Diego all the best for the rest of the season.”
In Mirandes’ announcement, a little more about the loan is stated.
“CD Mirandés and AC Milan have reached an agreement for the loan of Diego Sia until the end of the season. Diego Sia is a player who can operate in all attacking positions, seeking depth and balance.”

It certainly seems like this is a development loan, as opposed to the youngster being shipped off permanently. Playing in the second division in Spain, where there is instant pressure on him to help the club survive this season, should only help him.
When he returns in the summer, the Diavolo can then reassess where the youngster is. After all, he is still very young in the context of his career.

Not too bad if it’s only a straight up loan.
Hopefully it also mean that Filippo Scotti can get promoted to the Futuro and who is already 19 and still is playing with the Primavera and who has an expiring contract this summer. Scotti was one of the’ players I had the greatest hopes for but I kinda fear he will leave us on a free transfer this coming summer. Maybe a promotion to the Futuro can change that if it actually has been in the cards that he might leave us.
See ya Sia. Como’s Heir will join you there and cheer for you. Especially if they sell ham 😊
