CM: Second-bottom and struggling – signings planned to save Milan Futuro from relegation

Milan Futuro closed 2024 yesterday with a home defeat against Virtus Entella, a team challenging for the title. It would be fair to say the first few months have not gone to plan.

As Calciomercato.com reports, the league table is starting to become increasingly worrying with the Futuro in second to last position, three points above Legnago Salus and tied with Sestri Levante. The safety zone is now four points away.

A 10th defeat in the league (only Legnago has lost more than Milan Futuro) highlights some real worries, while coach Daniele Bonera has switched to using a three-man defence, which in some ways goes against the modus operandi of mimicking the first team.

The likes of Diego Sia, Chaka Traoré and Francesco Camarda were never really in the game yesterday which is a worry. The forwards are struggling from a lack of service, while the defensive record is actually the fifth-best in Group B.

The impression is that the team is full of young talent with a bright future, but at the same time lacks experienced players who are used to playing on the pitches of a physically difficult and complex league such as Serie C.

In 2025 there must be a resurgence because it is essential to avoid relegation to Serie D, given the €12m investment in the second team project agreed by the ownership. Bonera has the trust of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jovan Kirovski, for now.

The path is mapped out for early next year: to add some reinforcements for greater competitiveness and to help the talents grow. The next game is on January 5th against Carpi, so there is no time to waste.

  1. Demote chukwueze to the futuro and call back saladmaker from Roma, even if it means we must let go of Abraham.

Pass me another stick of smoke….
