Maignan has ended up in the sights of Chelsea, a team that has qualified for next season’s Champions League and offers the possibility of playing in the top European competition, which appears to appeal to the goalkeeper.

This – combined with a contractual situation that now seems compromised – could lead the Rossoneri captain to leave Milanello after four years. In the meantime, Milan are already drawing up a list of possible heirs.
Maignan out, who in?
This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports that Massimiliano Allegri hopes to patch things up with Maignan and he has already made this known to the club. The problem, however, starts a long time ago and specifically concerns the failed contract renewal.
In January everything was set for a three-year extension plus one at €5m net per season. Then, suddenly, negotiations were interrupted and the Frenchman did not appreciate this sudden U-turn. For this reason, Mike Maignan’s intention is to leave.
Chelsea hope over time to lower Milan’s €30m demands. At the same time, the Rossoneri will try to mend things, though they have no choice but to scout the market for potential replacements for their captain.
Mile Svilar is one option, also in contract difficulty with Roma, but they want €40m to sell. Marco Carnesecchi of Atalanta is another name, as is Vanja Milinkovic-Savic of Torino who has a clause of €20m, and Elia Caprile who will leave Napoli.
lso keep an eye on foreign options: Lille’s Lucas Chevalier is admires and Diario AS today put forward the idea of Kepa Arrizabalaga, who played at Bournemouth on loan from Chelsea last season and has a €6m release clause.
Chavalier, Carnescecchi, Svilar are the only correct options!
For €6M Kepa is a bargain, especially as currently he seems destined to sit on Arsenal’s bench. He was fantastic for Bournemouth last year and Athletic Club prior. If we haven’t learned yet that Chelsea performance isn’t a fair indicator of a player’s talent, when will we?

And during the season when we are conceding unnecessary goals, you’d be part of the fans who would accuse the management to putting an inexperienced goalkeeper in front of the post.
it’s a gamble indeed, but we used to have gigio.. so worth the try, and even more so also because this season we’ll only play the league and domestic cup..
Caprile is underrated, but if we’re not signing a bigger profile like Carnesecchi or Savic, we should give Torriani a shot. Sportiello and Vasquez can back up.
Selling Maignan is the right move – he hasn’t been good last two years and he also gets injured a lot for a goalie. Torriani is an option but he isn’t ready for Serie A I don’t think.
First of all; I prefer an Italian one.
Then about this list; I didn’t see anything special in Savic and Caprile. No!
If we wanna spend big on GK; Carnesecchi, Svilar and Chevalier, respectively.
For €6M, Kepa are good enough.

Wow. That’s a lot of downgrades. I suppose since we will be content with 8th – 10th place, a downgrade like Kepa is perfect.

Without Maignan we would have finished further down then 8th.
Feel like Chevalier is the right keeper, so many Lille players go to Milan and up playing well.
What is wrong with giving Lorenzo Torriani a shot????? We’ve seen exactly what panned out when Mijailovic had trust in Donnarumma at the age of 16! We are not competing for anything this year other than Serie A, which is probably a long shot too. Rebuilding year, (sort of). So why not put him between the goal posts?? He’s young, full of potential, and ITALIAN!!!!!!
Nothing wrong with him; he is promising, and will be shine soon or later. He needs a season loan to a Serie A team, and regular plays to gain more experience and grows up.
Let me remind you. Mihajlovic started to using Donnarumma, when we were at banter era. No European games, and no chance or fight for Scudetto.
We need to see what our management’s goal is for next season. Scudetto? Or 4th place?

I really like milenkovic savic, hes a beast. Torriani would be good as the first back up to try and develop him a bit. Carnesecchi overrated, he does put in some great performances, but also puts in quite a few mediocre ones as well. Svilar not possible in my opinion, kepa is a joke, the other ones are alright i guess, but in my opinion i think savic is ready to step up to a big club
In my opinion, the older the goalkeepers, the more experienced they are, and the better they perform. The responsibility of defending the goal doesn’t lie solely with the goalkeeper — it involves the entire team, especially the defenders.
Yes, Mike Maignan made a number of errors, but tell me which of our outfield player didn’t?
Even Reijnders, our best player last season, and also the best midfielder in Serie A, made some costly and avoidable mistakes.
That said, renewing Maignan’s contract seemed like the best move for the club. Even our new coach, Allegri, expressed his desire to keep Mike as one of the leaders in the squad.
But if Maignan is pushing for a move to Chelsea, then we shouldn’t hold onto a player who clearly wants to leave. Forcing someone to stay against their will rarely leads to positive outcomes.
