CM: €40-50m plus sales – the six exits that could drastically increase Milan’s budget

Next summer will be AC Milan’s first without the shadow of Elliott Management looming, and fans expect a statement window from RedBird.

Indeed, the supporters are demanding that Milan start to claw back the recent gap to their city rivals and believe Massimiliano Allegri can win the 20th Scudetto in the club’s history. The coach has already indicated the type of talent needed to raise the bar, and now it’s up to the management.

Calciomercato.com report that the outgoing transfer market will also be crucial: the proceeds from transfers will be added to a budget that doesn’t appear to be particularly impressive (a figure between €40-50m is rumoured, plus sales).

Who could leave

The biggest movement should come in attack, where a number of players have underperformed. The directors have asked Christopher Nkunku’s agent to try and bring an offer that satisfies both the player and the asking price of at least €31m. Santiago Gimenez is waiting for news, too.

The Christian Pulisic case is more complicated, torn between a contract renewal and a transfer, although at present the latter option seems much more likely. The American’s characteristics don’t mesh well with Allegri’s 3-5-2 formation though he should remain.

Rafael Leao seems to have already made up his mind to leave Milan. At least €50m would be needed to even consider a sale in the eyes of Milan, though Manchester United have the budget to spend that and are the ones to watch out for.

Turning to the midfield, it’s important to keep an eye on potential developments involving Youssouf Fofana, who is being targeted by Everton, Lyon, Marseille and Galatasaray. Allegri would like to keep him in the squad, but if an offer exceeding €25m arrives, the club would give the green light to a sale.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also expected to leave due to the fact that his contract expires at the end of next season. The Rossoneri hope to secure between €10- 15m from the sale of the Englishman, though no suitors are mentioned.

In defence, only Pervis Estupinan is clearly on the way out and agent Jorge Mendes already working on finding him a place. Milan are working on extending Strahinja Pavlovic’s contract until 2031, though surprised cannot be ruled out, with Chelsea apparently poised to submit an offer.

  1. No-one is paying the required rate to avoid a loss on N’Kunku

No-one is paying more than a token fee for RLC

Estupinan is going to be a struggle to shift for the needed amount

    1. I agree those players should ideally be sold but if they can’t be we can’t accept that these players should be left wallowing on the bench or, in the ironically named, Futuro.

These players came from a superior league so should be able to cope in Serie A.

They are still the same players who were signed for their abilities. They have lost confidence or struggled under the new system or with injuries.

Nobody should be revelling in their demise or insulting them for their struggles.

Instead the anger should be directed at the owners and the people who are destroying players and the game by constantly moving players around like some pimps with cheap whores.

    2. You can get 10M for RLC if you were blind, couldn’t speak the language and never watched football in your life. A good sport director can get 15M from let’s say a newly promoted PL team that is looking for experience. Maybe even a club like Aston Villa or Brighton that is in top half and are looking for squad players. The PL has homegrown rules so English players fetch a higher price than others. The problem is does he want to go to any club…

  2. Sales:
Loaned: Bennacer, Chukwueze, Terracciano, Morata, Colombo. That’s the income from player out on loan sales .
Musah, Bondo, Camarda, Zeroli can be Loaned again.

    First team players:
I would love to see departures of: Nkunku, Loftus Cheek, Estupinan. And thats all.

At least 50 to 60 must be capital gain here. 150 most.

    1. You are too optimistic. Leao is pretty much a goner at this point. He looks ready for a move and I am pretty sure his entourage has been busy studying his next destination. There is no way he is staying while putting on these recurring quarrels with the coach in public as he has been doing.

      1. Besides the one quarrel with Allegri, have there been more? First, I admit I always wanted Pulisic away from Allegri. Never saw it working. But if you’re blowing up the team this much, good luck. No chance to challenge for the scudetto with basically a new team. Rather then building and strenghting the team you need to tear it apart? Teams bidding on players are going smell blood and no way will you get what you want. Secondly, you’re not going to get any deals buying. Smell the blood. Was this always the plan with Allegri? OMG if so.

    2. Bennacer and Chukwueze won’t be bought by their current clubs for which they play as loaned players. D & F will probably try to reduce the(ir) redemption fees by a significant amount so there’s no way we’ll get what was agreed last summer, say goodbye to 34-36 million, the club can not count on that figure. What does Milan exactly achieve by loaning Musah once again? That could maybe pay off in a long run but it’s also a risk, I am not sure if we should take it.

  3. Also, I don’t see Leão in the EPL with ManUtd or any other top EPL team or at Barca. These teams aggressively press. Good luck with that

      1. Existing players aren’r that bad though, they’re just playing out of position. And aren’t you the one advocating to support our players and not spend? I know it’s hard to stay indifferent when you cheer for Como that like to buy new shiny toys every summer.

        1. 😀 Yeah, the guy is an oxymo*on (the website flags this word lol). He sh*ts on Milan buying a lot of players and then says he is supporting Como that buys most players in Serie A by far. They buy 15-20 players every year. And is also one of the biggest net spenders.

        2. Money is finite.

So there’s no point complaining about it.

Complain about what they do with that money, and how they treat the players who you support each week.

          1. You’ve been around here long enough to know what I am vocal about. And one of them is about spending wise. So back off and go after the Gerryboys of this blog, the ones who hate our Scudetto winning garniture and our homegrown boys.

  4. Ok, but HOW??
3rd place in Serie A give roughly 60mil in prize money(50-60mil) and qualifying to CL gets 18.6.
So the min budget should be around 70 before even sales

  5. Every season you’ve been wrong on this and I’ve been right. The budget is about €80 million before anymore players are sold as Fulham are probably going to sign Chucky. The other players that should be easy to offload are:

    Gimenez
    Jashiri
    Leao
N’kunku – because his former coach wants him
    Pulisic

That’s over €100 million in sales. The budget will be similar to last year. The budget isn’t the issue, the targets are. Unless they get away from EPL rejects and look at players in Serie A, nothing will change. That strategy is doomed.

  6. Please, i hope Milan can recruit Luka Vuskovic, Honest Ahanor, Konstantinos Karetsas, Gabriel Mec, and Igor Thiago.

    1. Luka Vuskovic is out of reach of Milan. He is a 60M player, probably already 80M if you want to buy him…More likely he’ll end up at Bayern, Real Madrid, Man City…

    2. Atalanta don’t sell players cheap.
Karetsas is from the crappy Belgium league AND short.
      Mec is another midget.
      Thiago is probably €60 million.

The strategy needs to shift away from signing randos and prospects from other leagues and signing Serie A proven players.

Lauriente, Pinamonti and Orsolini should have been signed years ago.
