Luka Modric’s contract will expire at the end of the season, but if he agrees, AC Milan will be able to extend it for another year. According to a report, a few things will have to come together for that to materialise.
Virtually no one had doubts about the quality and experience that Modric would add to this team when he joined last summer. However, there were a few question marks on his physical status, knowing that he would turn 40 years old in September.
So far, Modric has certainly answered those questions in the best way possible, starting 30 out of a possible 32 games in the league this season. Furthermore, it’s not like he has jogged around the pitch, so much so that Real Madrid have expressed regrets about letting him go.
Things to iron out
With the above in mind, there is no doubt that Milan would like to extend Modric’s contract for another year. As said at the start, there is already an option to do so in the current deal, but the Rossoneri need the player’s go-ahead to trigger it.
Speaking about the situation on Sky Italia earlier today, Peppe Di Stefano outlined that four things have to happen for Modric to stay…
1) He has to feel that he can contribute from a physical point of view. 2) Champions League qualification is needed. 3) Milan have to prove that they will build a strong team for next season. 4) Finally, most likely, Massimiliano Allegri’s stay is crucial.
One can only hope that the Rossoneri will be able to get Modric’s OK in the end considering just how important he has been.

Good Lord, Luka! If you can get guarantees on those, I swear I’ll raise a shrine to you. St. Luka!
Guess we know where Modric is headed if Allegri takes the Real Madrid job.
” Its not like he has jogged around the pitch ” Only LEAO does that !!
But Leao can afford to do that as he has potential. 🙄
