Sky: Anxious wait for Milan as Bennacer leaves San Siro on crutches

By Isak Möller -

Ismael Bennacer was forced to leave AC Milan’s clash against Inter after just 17 minutes this evening, sustaining an injury. The Rossoneri are now hoping that it isn’t serious, but the player left the stadium on crutches.

Bennacer started in the No.10 role this evening and just like his teammates, he had a rough start to the game. Things got even worse in the 17th minute when, after a challenge, he had to leave the pitch in great agony.

As reported by Sky Italia (via TheMilanZone), it’s possible that the Algerian suffered a meniscus injury. He left San Siro on crutches and it might not be good news for Milan, who had to make do without Rafael Leao as well tonight.

Bennacer will undergo a series of tests in the coming hours and only then will we know the extent of his injury. The return leg seems to be at risk though, and potentially the rest of the season.

  1. And the idiotic referee did not see anything wrong in 3 Inter players hacking Bennacer to the ground.

    The referee was a disaster

  2. Inter made it a strategy to act roughly on the Milan players to keep them out with injuries for the return match.
Alexis Sanchez is an artful diver and tends to trick many referees.
Yesterday the referee looked like the 12th player for Inter, and he awarded them a non-existent penalty with the typical Sanchez trickery. The penalty take was avoided only after the insistence by the Milan players and officials to consult the VAR which the referee accepted reluctantly.
Still the Milan player was yellow carded while Sanchez got away free, when the referee should have withdrawn the yellow card for the Milan player and given it to Sanchez, if not a red card.
In my opinion, football has been taken over by the betting companies.

    1. well, we didn’t score after he left either. don’t think he had a role defending deadballs against tall players like Dzeko..
