Sky: Bad news for Milan ahead of Man Utd clash as only one player looks set to recover

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli may only welcome back one of his injured players for Thursday’s game against Manchester United, it is claimed.

Pioli was without a number of his key players for Sunday’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Hakan Calhanoglu, Mario Mandzukic, Ismael Bennacer, Ante Rebic, Theo Hernandez and Daniel Maldini were all left out of the squad. Sandro Tonali did make the squad for the game at the Stadio Bentegodi, but remained on the bench as a precaution.

According to the latest from Sky Italia (via MilanNews), there aren’t many who will recover for the game at Old Trafford this week, in fact only Tonali is certain to be available. The stance of the medical staff is clear: if you are fine you play, otherwise if you are not at 100% it is better to wait a few more days and then recover to be at 100% for the next match.

Pioli is holding back on using certain players who are not at optimal condition, so Rebic, Theo Hernandez and Calhanoglu could stay at Milanello in view of Sunday’s crucial game against Napoli. Mandzukic, Bennacer and Ibrahimovic will not play.
