Sky Germany: Bayern Munich initiate exploratory contacts with Milan star Leao

Rafael Leao has ended up on Bayern Munich’s radar, according to a report, and a good relationship with the agent Jorge Mendes could play in favour of a potential move.

It has been a season of ups and downs for Leao, once again struggling to perform consistently with the red and black shirt. Nevertheless, no matter how you look at it, the winger is on 12 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.

As such, he remains a big name on the transfer market and according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, he has attracted the interest of Bayern Munich. They are looking for a high-profile winger, specifically one to play on the left, and Leao is one of their targets.

Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma is currently the top target, per the journalist, but Leao is only just behind and there have already been contacts. Indeed, the No.10’s agent/intermediary Jorge Mendes has a very good relationship with Bayern Munich’s sporting chief Max Eberl.

This relationship could thus play in favour of a potential deal, with Mendes having a knack for getting what he wants in the end. That being said, as the journalist concludes, the German side are still assessing the situation and no decisions have been made.

It could perhaps help Milan fund their mercato, with at least one star departure seemingly on the cards. Theo Hernandez is reportedly keen on leaving too.

    1. Wirtz just officially agreed terms with Liverpool. Leao bu default just moved up on Bayern’s list of priorities.

      1. Yeah I did not expect it. Liverpool are getting a top player, one who can replace Salah when he leaves. Nice transfer.
If BM move for Leao, I think Gerry would sell for 70-80 mln. And BM can easily pay that amount.

  1. Wow! I think Bayen suits him very well.
Milan need a new owner or at leat a complete new Management team. This club is waste of time. Leao should look forward. IT IS HARD TO ME TO SAY THAT – THE TRUTH!

  2. My problem with Leão is you have to unbalanced the attack to play with him. So, I don’t see a highly structured German team wanting him.

  3. Not good enough for Milan we were told.

Don’t worry, Cardinale and his deep knowledge of football will get us a proper replacement for Leao

  4. Same situation like with Theo. It’s more of the player and his agent offering himself to Bayern than Bayern being interested in the player.
The article was even worded the same way, that they are interested but he isn’t their top choice.
If they are so great why aren’t they the top choices of the clubs that are supposedly interested in them like for example ManCity and Reijnders. Reijnders is the top choice of ManCity, not a case where his agent is good friend with a director at the club.
Hopefully it is true though and they free Milan from a lazy player who isn’t even good enough to score 10 goals in serie A.

    1. Maybe they both will be sold. One to balance the books, i.e. the reported 80 mln hole from lack of European football, and the other one to fund the mercato.

      1. Selling either for 70 makes rooms for new arrivals.

That’s why after Tonsli – they just selling

    2. For sure!!! But the management will probably sell Tijji AND Leao. And won’t stop there… Pulisic, Theo & MM16 too. Think of all the sweet money they get. And then Moncada packs his bags and goes shopping in France. 10 players 10-15M€ each. How fkng awesome, eh?

  5. I PRAY RAFAEL LEAO LEAVES, WHAT A USELESS PLAYER, NO AMBITION, DOESN’T COMPETE FOR ANYTHING NOTHING.
