Ismael Bennacer underwent knee surgery at the end of last season and has been working hard in the last few months on his recovery. He will be back at Milanello soon, but the comeback will have to wait.
It was in the first semi-final against Inter (in the Champions League) that Bennacer had to leave the pitch. It was later confirmed that he had undergone surgery to repair the cartilage lesion in France.
In the last few months, the Algerian has been working very hard and according to Sky Italia (via Radio Rossonera), he will be back at Milanello on Monday next week (the 16th). The comeback on the pitch, however, is still expected at the start of 2024.
The report adds that Bennacer has been working with a physiotherapist abroad to strengthen the muscles of the knee. His return to Milanello, where he will continue his recovery, is a big step in the right direction but patience is still needed.
It remains to be seen if he will be called up by Algeria for the AFCONs in January or not and more importantly, if he feels ready for it.
Didnt the algerian international coach say a while back that he would call up bennacer for the afcon 2024 if he isnt injured by then so bennacer propably wont play much then before in early to mid february 2024.
I hope Bennacer decides not to go to AFCON and continue his recovery at milanello.
We need him to push for the scudetto which is a realistic goal for Milan.
That would be nice if he chose to do so but we also risk losing adli and chukwueze.
Wait Adli is a French player isn’t or am I missing something?
Yes he is born in france but maybe 3-4 months ago there was an article that clarified that he had chosen allegiance with with the algerian international team instead. I hope he has changed his mind though but the international coach was also in over the article so it seems like its the case he will play for them.
My apologies, its actuallly an year old article so maybe there is still hope as he hasnt yet represented them.
