It was in the first semi-final against Inter (in the Champions League) that Bennacer had to leave the pitch. It was later confirmed that he had undergone surgery to repair the cartilage lesion in France.

In the last few months, the Algerian has been working very hard and according to Sky Italia (via Radio Rossonera), he will be back at Milanello on Monday next week (the 16th). The comeback on the pitch, however, is still expected at the start of 2024.

The report adds that Bennacer has been working with a physiotherapist abroad to strengthen the muscles of the knee. His return to Milanello, where he will continue his recovery, is a big step in the right direction but patience is still needed.

It remains to be seen if he will be called up by Algeria for the AFCONs in January or not and more importantly, if he feels ready for it.
