Sky: Premier League side offer €12m for Milan midfielder – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

A move to the Premier League could become a concrete possibility for Yacine Adli as an offer has arrived from Brentford in the last few hours, a report claims.

According to the latest from Sky (via MilanNews), the Milan management are currently working to reduce Paulo Fonseca ‘s squad because of the amount of players that are present that he does not deem part of his plans.

Adli could be the main suspect to leave Milanello before the window shuts, given how little he was used in preseason and the fact he doesn’t seem to have a slot in the squad while incomings could and should arrive too.

Brentford in the Premier League have made an offer of €12m to Milan today for the French midfielder. At the moment nothing more has come out except this, but the impression is that important news on the matter could arrive in the coming few hours.

La Gazzetta dello Sport published a report yesterday which spoke about how much Adli is loved in the dressing room. They also revealed that he woke up at 5am on his day off during Milan’s tour in the United States, travelled to New York – an hour away from the hotel in New Jersey – and came back with an NBA shirt for every team-mate.

  1. Right now, Adli is probably thinking about what his next gesture should be, so the team can feel sorry for him and decide to keep him.
He already threw a BBQ for the whole team, then he bought everyone NBA jerseys. What should he do next 🤔.
    Just leave bro!
Go somewhere where you can play while you are still young. Stop acting like a fan and start acting like a professional footballer that wants to have a career on the pitch instead of behind the scenes.

    1. Totally agree. He needs to accept the reality and move on because he’s doing is going to change his situation at Milan.

So there’s no need for him to waste his time, money and career at Milan. Brentford has a good project and they are located (West London) which is a good city and I’m sure his salary will be better than the salary he’s getting from Milan.

  2. He’d do very well there, they typically know what to do with their players. Would be sorry to see him go but someone really has to.

  3. Given our ridiculous injury count the past 2-3 years it would be unwise to sell him. Plus he had the ability to split defences with passes.
Develope him and valuate in a year

    1. We only have 6 homegrown players over 22, so we can only register 23 senior players next season. We have 24 senior players (Origi and Ballo Toure not included here) so we literally 1 player won’t be able to play next season.

Also Florenzi, I know his injury is so bad he probably won’t play until next year, but he is one of homegrown so if you exclude him we can only register 22 players. So one non-homegrown player need to go :

      GK (2) :
      – Mike Maignan
      – Marco Sportiello 🇮🇹

      CB (5) :
      – Fikayo Tomori
      – Matteo Gabbia🇮🇹
      – Strahinja Pavlovic
      – Malick Thiaw
      – Pierre Kalulu

      RB (2) :
      – Davide Calabria🇮🇹
      – Alessandro Florenzi🇮🇹

      LB (2) :
      – Theo Hernandez
      – Terraciano🇮🇹

      DM/CM/AM (6) :
      – Tijjani Reijnders
      – RLC
      – Ismael Bennacer
      – Yunus Musah
      – Tommaso Pobega🇮🇹
      – Yacine Adli

      RW (2) :
      – Samuel Chukwueze
      – Christian Pulisic

      LW (2) :
      – Rafael Leao
      – Alexis Saelemakers

      CF (3) :
      – Alvaro Morata
      – Luka Jovic
      – Noah Okafor

From our players, the one most likely to leave is Adli. He is imo the weakest of our fringe players. Then if we want to buy more non-homegrown player (like Royal or Fofana, or Abraham), then we need to sell one more player to accomodate each signing – so the suspect will be Bennacer, Thiaw/Kalulu, Saelemakers, Okafor, Jovic.

If we buy homegrown players, we can buy 2 no problem (or even 3 if we exclude Florenzi from list). So players mentioned in this forum like Chiesa, Kayode, Ricci, Lucca, etc we can buy no problem.

Oh, in case someone say after Napoli buy him, Mateo Retegui is NOT a homegrown player. Because he does not play in any Italian team for at least 3 years before he turned 22 y.o.

      1. Quick question as you probably know more than I do about lists. Would Musah count as under 22 due to his age?
That would free up a spot, no?

        1. Correct, Musah is young enough to not take away a spot this season. So, currently we are just fine. For any new player we need to sell one (or keep and not include in the team which makes no sense) and that can only be Adli. He can come back as staff member after his career and do all his nice things then

          1. @asdf rules about the age always getting update every year. The article you cited was from 2022.

For 2024/2025 competition, player list B need to be born after 1 January 2023.

Also because he came from other club, he won’t be eligible for List B anyways. Player newly bought to the club will always getting in list A no matter their age.

So even if we buy Lamine Yamal (I know we won’t) he will still get into list A if he played in Champions League.

        2. No, even though he was part of the Giorgione youth academy, he wasn’t between the ages of 15-21 when he was there, also he’s 22 this year.

        3. No. At least for Uefa squad list

“A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 2003 and has, since his 15th birthday, been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years, or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.”

To feature for list B this season, a player need to:
          1. Born on/after 1 January 2023 (he isn’t)
          2. Already played at the team for minimum 2 years consecutively, or 1 year loan with minimum 3 year at the club.

So the rules don’t apply for new players bought to the club, even if they are younger than 22.

          1. Same reason I include Terraciano there, as even if he is still 21 (born Feb 8 2023) he won’t be eligible in Uefa list B because he hasn’t joined our club for at least 2 seasons.

If we want to play him in Champions League, he will need to be registered at List A.

          2. Also yes UEFA lists are more stringent. For instance, I believe Juve can register Rugani for their homegrown quota for Serie A (co-owned by Empoli while he was in their U19, team) but for UEFA competition he doesn’t qualify from what I had read.

  4. I don’t think we sell him, I’m afraid there are no club , which want to buy our players 😀😀 Special from us, because like all Italian club, we want too much money for every avarage and good players… We want 40m for Malick, 50m for Tomori and 50m for Bennacer and their real price is somewhere over half of the price…Malick 25/27, Tomori max 40 and Bennacer around 25/28. Adli has potential , but last 2 years play really few match and I’m interested what price they want for him
(But yes price of players like Theo and Leao are high, but others not, even Mike’s real price is somewhere around 40/45m , not 70m..)

    1. Tomori’s market value is 40m, Thiaw 25m, Bennacer 30m. And that is correct, considering their contracts Tomori and Thiaw are worth more as well as Bennacer. Adli isn’t physical enough to compete in Serie A, same issue with Brahim, Adli should’ve fulfilled on his potential by now. You need to learn to understand how the transfer market works, Monaco wanting 20m for Fofana is stupid because in January we can sign him for free as his contract enters its last 6 months.

      1. Monaco asking more for Fofana isn’t stupid, because they’ll probably find a buyer willing to pay more this summer. And if Milan don’t find an alternative, they can accept the bid near the end of the window. If Milan find an alternative, Fofana might be more open to the EPL move which would make Monaco more money.

  5. Unfortunately it did not work out, but he will find it even tougher playing for Brentford as he literally has no pace, or physicality would be interesting to see how Thomas Frank uses him. His last season at Bordeaux on loan from us was already a sign that he already hit his ceiling as a player. We’d be better off with even Castrovilli or Mandragora, or even Antonin Barak than Adli.

    1. I think everyone too hard on adli
He have great passes and one of the only players that can help with build up for attack
His role is rijnders deputy and dm if no other player available.
      Musah definitely not ready yet
      Pobega is pobega..
Rlc for some reason is am and if not he is injured
Bennacer had very bad last season and he have high price so he is the best player to sale

Without first buying at least 1 good dm we shouldn’t sale adli
