Sky: Cagliari players celebrate survival – Semplici could now heavily rotate their starting XI

By Oliver Fisher -

Cagliari boss Leonardo Semplici could make a number of changes to his starting line-up tonight with survival now mathematically secured.

Speaking to the microphones of Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Manuele Baiocchini reported that there is an immense sense of joy among the Cagliari squad after having achieved survival. Their players were apparently in their rooms waiting for the pre-match meeting and they were watching the match between Benevento and Crotone.

The players – after Simy’s late equaliser – exploded and celebrated with great happiness. Now, there could be different choices regarding their starting XI for tonight’s match having already secured their fate for next season.

Some players who have not played as much for the Sardinian side this season could therefore be given the nod, something which perhaps gives Milan a bit of an edge knowing they simply need to win to secure a top four spot for the first time in seven years.
