Sky: Calafiori to arrive on loan as Milan will promote Primavera star Bartesaghi

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are making moves for the left-hand side of the defence. The Rossoneri have secured the services of Riccardo Calafiori on loan and are set to promote Primavera star Davide Bartesaghi, a report claims.

Whilst working on the sale of Fode Ballo-Toure, Milan have also been focused on securing a replacement. Riccardo Calafiori, the former Roma man currently at Basel, appears to be the chosen one but he won’t arrive on a permanent basis.

According to Sky Italia, Milan have secured the 21-year-old on loan for the upcoming season. The Rossoneri have opted for a loan instead of a permanent deal as they believe that their Primavera star Davide Bartesaghi is nearly ready for a promotion.

In 6-12 months, Milan are expected to promote the 17-year-old to the first team. The management was impressed with the youngster’s performances in the USA pre-season tour, playing both as a centre-back and a left-back.

  1. We also have Bozzolan… That is currently on loan at Perugia.

So I agree that maybe we didn’t need permanent option as Theo deputy. But we should include buyout option in case Calafiori is actually really good so we can secure him easily.

    1. I think Bartesaghi will become more of a LCB as he’s 1.94M tall, plus it wouldn’t be too bad to have a left footed ball playing centre back

      1. Exactly. Future?: LB Bozzolan, LCB Bertasaghi? Unlikely to happen since we’ll probably sell them for pure profit, but dare to dream.

  2. Hope the ones of Bartesaghi and Colombo get enough play time and chances to prove themself.
At Theo’s current form during pre-season, even Calafiori could be needed (even tho I still believe that Theo will regain his form in the comming days)

  3. A loan with an option I hope. This way we can push Ballo-Toure out without permanently signing anyone.

This player is promising. Can even play as a CB too.

    1. ? We don’t want to pay 7 million for a back-up when we’re targeting a midfielder right now. A loan deal makes more sense.
