Sky: A change and a chance – latest team news in view of Lecce game

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan recorded a much-needed win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, but the mission now is to get back on track in the Scudetto race too.

The Champions League win has given new life to Milan who were previously in a tough run of form, but what must be demonstrated on the pitch against Lecce is that there is consistency to that level of performance.

The Stadio Via del Mare can be a difficult place to go as the Rossoneri found out last season when they had to battle back from 2-0 down at half-time to earn a 2-2 draw with goals from Rafael Leao and Davide Calabria.

Stefano Pioli’s players used a lot of energy against PSG and the coach will have to take this into account. Peppe Di Stefano spoke on Sky from Milanello today in view of the trip to face Lecce, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“Still relaxing training for the players who played against PSG, because that match was very intense. The first substitution was in the 84th minute, so the players practically played an entire match. The rest played a friendly match today, a test against the Primavera, two halves of 15 minutes,” he said.

“Tomorrow the departure towards Lecce, Pioli will not speak at the press conference. The game system will be the usual one, the certainty is Loftus-Cheek after the great performance in the Champions League and there will be no Pulisic, who we will see again after the break.

“Chukwueze will most likely play in his place. For the rest we will see a copy and paste of Milan compared to the one that played on Tuesday evening against PSG.”

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Thiaw, Theo Hernandez; Musah, Reijnders, Loftus-Cheek; Chukwueze, Giroud, Leao.
